More about Dr. Babak Fardin
I was born in Shiraz, Iran, but spent most of my childhood and high school years in Santa Monica, California. Upon graduating from high school, I attended Harvard University for my undergraduate years. Prior to entering medical school, I spent a couple of years doing medical research. I then attended medical school at the University of Vermont to stay close to my wife, who was finishing up her senior year at Harvard College. We then returned to Southern California for the remainder of my training, where I did an internship in internal medicine at UCLA and an ophthalmology residency at UC Irvine. I then performed a two-year subspecialty fellowship at UC Irvine in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous. I feel indebted to UC Irvine for the excellent training they provided me and, as a result, I am still involved in mentoring and teaching the current ophthalmology residents and retina fellows at UC Irvine.
