Dr. Barbara Ann Burns, MD

I cannot rank Dr. Burns low enough. I went into labor spontaneously on a Saturday night and Dr. Burns was on call. We had called ahead and they told us to come in at 9pm so she knew I was coming. However when we arrived she was at home putting her kids in. The nurses were shot to determine I was 5cm on arrival but Burns still didn’t show up for another 2 hour at 11pm! She then checked me and left, never once asking me about the kind of birth I wanted, if I had questions or anything. Even though I was the ONLY person in labor that night I didn’t see her agin until 5am Sunday when my baby was born! Not one. Had she had the decency to show her face prior maybe we would have know my baby was sunny side up and we could have tried other birthing positions, but we didn’t know nor did the nurses know until the baby was born and I had a 3rd degree tear. Run far away from her.

During my first pregnancy I was concerned about what type of OB I should have, I read reviews and even got word of mouth that Dr. Burns was great. I highly reccomend that if you are a detail oriented person I would not recommend her. Not only is she always in a rush she is always late sometimes waiting up to 40 min just for a 10 minute check. The only time she ever really spoke was during the first exam and at the 36wk exam. Other then that she was not a great OB, I would never reccomend her. I had minor complications during my pregnancy and felt like she wasn't reassuring enough to make me walk out of the hospital confident. I wish I would have stuck to my gut and changed my OB mid term through my pregnancy. I hope this helps all the first time mommy's looking for a great OB.

Dr. Burns delivered my second VBAC baby. I’ve been incredibly impressed with her bedside manners, and positive, supportive nature. She truly has a passion for her work, and it shows in her genuine compassion and knowledge.

Dr. Burns is probably one of the best doctors I've had. I researched to find a new doctor at Aspirus,since mine retired. I was very impressed how she read through all records and knew my history when she met me for the first time. So I didn't hv to try and remember events. Great bedside manner, which is also high on my list. My husband met her as well and was very pleased. I have alot of confidence in her and would highly recommend her.

I highly recommend her so much that I almost don't because I don't want to share her. I went through a lengthy and rough process to conceive and Dr. Burns was not only there for each and every appointment (and call) but she made me feel so incredibly comfortable. My questions were always answered, my fears were met with kindness and she compassionatly delivered my amazing miracle baby boy. I am so thankful for everything Dr. Burns did for my family and continues to do with her fantastic care.

r. Burns was amazing during both of my labors. Present, knowledgable, reasonable, friendly everything I had hoped for and more. She is caring and compassionate making sure you are comfortable every step of the way

Throughout my pregnancy with my second child I planned on a C-section. I went into labor 12 hours before the scheduled C section. After hours of suffering and being turned away by the hospital staff, Dr. Burns (the doctor on call, not my regular OBGYN) told me since I was fully dilated I should do a VBAC since it would only take "a few quick pushes" to deliver the baby. She didn't say I could still have a C-section (which my regular doctor assured me I could). After suffering almost 10 hours I just wanted it to end so I agreed. The quick pushes didn't work, the episiotomy she performed without my consent didn't either, the suction she applied to the baby that caused bruising severe enough to result in jaundice didn't work, so after hours of the vaginal labor I didn't want my daughter was finally born via C section. The final cost of the birth was MORE than the cost of a vaginal delivery and C section COMBINED. I cannot emphasize enough how awful this experience and doctor was.

Dr Burns was very sensitive and kind when we were going through a very difficult time. She became a friend and Doctor.

Wonderful, kind, caring OB/GYN. I moved from out-of-state, and did extensive research before choosing my doctor. As a registered nurse, I am very picky about my care. She cared for me every step of the way during a difficult pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. Dr. Burns is knowledgeable, beyond competent, kind, and truly cares for her patients. I had to have appointments weekly almost my entire pregnancy, and she always went above and beyond. She truly listens to the patient, and I was included in every aspect of my care throughout my pregnancy. My daughter and I could not have gotten through this without Dr. Burns and her amazing staff. I had several complications and a hospitalization during my pregnancy, and she was always one or two steps ahead in her plan of care. She educated me and my family on what to expect throughout my pregnancy, and when I had an emergency c-section due to preeclampsia, I felt very ready and informed on what to expect; there were no surprises. My baby… ended up in NICU, and she even came up to see us during our stay there. It is difficult to find a physician that takes the time to truly listen and care, and Dr. Burns always does that. I never felt that she had something else to do or other patients to see while she was talking with me during my appointments. I cannot recommend her enough; in fact, I have told everyone I know how wonderful she is.
