Dr Barbara Smith is just world class in competence and bedside manner. Never have I known a surgeon this skilled and responsive to all your questions and phone calls. Highly recommend.

My life has been permanently altered by the incompetence of Barbara Smith. There’s no one I despise more. This is CANCER. She’s arrogant to the point that she doesn’t know that she delayed me getting to chemo. Despite me pointing out the delay and what tests should be sent to California. This seemed to infuriate her. I left her. Subsequent doctors commented on my timeline unsolicited. I was right. I didn’t start chemo until two months after diagnosis. I wish I could say more here but my accusations are much to serious. She is only a reputation. Don’t make my mistake of letting her head up your cancer plan. Time is of the essence. What I wouldn’t do to go back in time and choose another doctor. Game over for me.

Very warm personality, explains everything in detail, never felt rushed. Great bed side manner. Loved her.

Dr. Smith is an amazing surgeon. she is brilliant and has a lovely disposition about her. The staff at MGH have all been excellent, especially her secretary, Gwen who comforted me over the phone when I got the diagnosis. Love them both

This review of mine is long, long overdue. I just happened to click on her name on this website and there she is! When I needed a breast cancer surgeon 11 years ago my primary recommended I go to her at MGH. I've never been sorry as after I had my surgery I heard that she was #1 breast cancer surgeon in the Northeast. You cannot beat that can you? She leaves a neat scar which fades over time, she is a great seamstress plus she gets clear margins around the tumor she is excising. I will never stop praising her. A doctor told me once she is a valued treasure at MGH. In the years since i had surgery nurses/doctors I've had have commented about what a great job she had done, saying that was her typical style, great suturing. It's been 11 years and since the year of my surgery I have been seeing her nurse practitioner. If ever there was a questionable exam or problem she would just call her into the examining room. Who ever has her for their surgeon will have the best!

I am a nurse and found Dr. Smith when I was facing breast cancer and a BRCA diagnosis. She is the whole package: a skilled, experienced surgeon with patience, kindness, and a warm bedside manner. I would refer to anyone, and already have!

I was very impressed with my first meeting with Dr. Smith. However, I wasn't able to ever get my questions answered. I believe she may have to many irons in the fire. I didn't feel that anyone was paying attention to my medical case. The testing process included multiple mistakes and delays that could have been easily avoided. She needs more staff to help her schedule. I recommend her technical abilities. But, I wouldn't recommend her overall due to her scheduling process and her practice's inability to multitask in order to quickly treat the patient. She needs to learn how to perform testing activities in parallel in order to avoid delays.

You'll be dead of the cancer by the time she realizes that you're her patient. She juggles 50 patients at a time and can't provide the urgent medical attention that cancer patients need. Your treatment will be delayed because of this woman's ego and power trip. This woman has ice running through her veins. Run for your life.

Dr Smith is a compassionate, caring, and attentive professional. Really elegant and educate as well. I felt I was her only patient during my visit. Thank God for doctors like her.
