Dr. Barbara Nancy Rickler, MD

My son has been seeing Dr Rickler for over ten years and she has been there for all of the ups and downs. Dr Rickler is responsive and professional. She truly cares and has the expertise to understand the issues as they continually change. Dr Ricklers understanding of her patients goes well beyond the individual and she takes the time and energy to see to it that the best course of action is taken. I would highly recommend Dr Rickler knowing that she has the knowledge and experience to diagnose and implement the best course of action.

A very rushed pych evaluation for my daughter. Report came back with mispelled names and wrong facts. Do not see her. Super unprofessional, bad bedside manner and clearly not the best in her field. Other reviews are right on! I will be filing charges!

If a school district or anyone else points you in the direction of Barbara Rickler, STEER CLEAR. She is a total quack. Her favorite diagnosis is thought disorder aka psychotic disorder based on NOTHING. She will say anything a school district wants her to say, including that your kid is crazy. Useless, dangerous, careless, and those are the more positive things I have to say about her. Barbara Rickler is a liar and should have her license taken away.

Total quack. Revolving door with school districts. If your school district tries to have you bring your child to her say no.

Both of my children have been seeing Dr. Rickler for approximately six (plus) years now. Both have learning disabilities, one with ADD and the other ADHD. I found her through a trusted recommendation which has worked out very well for our family. Over the years, Dr. Rickler has come to know my kids very well. She is able to decipher when they are struggling due to their true issues or if they simply are in a behavioral situation that needs addressing. This is so important when you are dealing with medications! I have never found her quick to throw medication at a problem, in fact, when a school professional suggested we speak to Dr. Rickler about consider upping the med dosage due to a huge lack of focus, she said no. She decided more frequent one-on-one sessions would prove more effective in getting to the root if the issue. In this case, it she was correct. Having children with LD and ADD/ADHD is an ever-changing existence. Having Dr. Rickler in my parental toolbox helps… me stay one step ahead. I only have one opportunity to do give my children the best opportunities to flourish. I feel that with her help, they are happy, thriving teenagers who fully understand their strengths and challenges and are better equipped to move into adulthood.

Dr. Rickler is a credit to her profession: a compassionate listener, on point diagnostician and experienced phychopharmacologist. She develops an appropriate treatment plan and has the ability to address the changing needs of her patients. I have seen her for a number of years and have referred several people to her, all of whom share my views. I am a very grateful patient.

I can not believe the lack of skill of this doctor. She diagnosed my son with psychosis and never spoke to him! She also told me he would get worse as he gets older. Other doctors said he has no signs of this

I would never recommend Dr. Rickler. Dr. Rickler and I played phone tag a few times and her messages were extremely condescending. She wanted me to "answer the phone when she called, becuase she didn't have time to play phone tag" My son found her to be condescending as well. The school paid her $2500 for (2) 45minute sessions with our son and 1 session with me and my husband. Although, he had been working with a psychologist and had a diagnosis, she dismissed it. Her diagnosis was so off base...she told us that our son, on paper, was MR. "MR" meaning mentally retarded, I found out later. The psychologist that my son works with totally dismissed her assessment. I am now in the process of filing a complaint against Dr. Rickler with the state.

My child was evaluated by Dr. Rickler as a requirement by our school district. She is our school's district psychiatrist and is called in to evaluate when certain problems arise. My son was scared to go to school after a teacher was verbally abusive to him. Dr. Rickler misdiagnosed my son as having bipolar disorder after having only met with him once for 40 minutes. We then took him to four more psychiatrists for other opinions, all of whom agreed that he did NOT have bipolar disorder (nothing even close to this diagnosis). I was told by one of those psychiatrists (an expert at Yale) that Dr. Rickler has a reputation for quickly slapping this diagnosis on children and suspects that she is in cahoots with the drug companies that manufacture medications for bipolar disorder. Oh, did I mention that she wanted my son to begin taking lithium immediately and was ready to hand me a prescription before I left her office? The doctors we consulted after this were shocked by that… recommendation. My son was 7 years old at the time. Hmmmmm. By the way, my son is just fine now. He had a school anxiety problem because of the teacher, it was as simple as that. He received a few months of Cognitive Behavior Therapy and is perfectly okay. So glad I didn't listen to Dr. Rickler.
