Dr. Barry L Gruber has the following 4 specialties
A rheumatologist is a physician who has received extensive training in diagnosing and treating rheumatic conditions. Rheumatic conditions involve the joints, soft tissues, autoimmune system, vascular system, and connective tissues.
Some of the conditions that rheumatologists treat are rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, sarcoidosis, vasculitis, and lupus. These are all conditions that involve a lot of pain and make mobility difficult. Rheumatologists use medications, such as analgesics, NSAIDs, steroids, DMARDs, infliximab, and adalimumab, as well as occupational therapy, in order to decrease pain and improve a patient's quality of life.
- Internal Medicine
An internist is a physician who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the adult population—both acute and chronic.
These doctors are often who adults see as their primary physicians because they treat a broad range of illnesses that do not require surgical or specialist interventions. They also work to help a patient maintain optimal health in order to prevent the onset of disease.
In addition to treating the common cold and flu, internists also treat chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
- Diagnostic Laboratory Immunology
- Allergy and Immunology
An allergy & immunology specialist is a physician who is specially trained in matters pertaining to chronic and acute allergies, as well as deficiencies of the immune system. The doctor will determine whether an allergy, which attacks our immune system, is present. They'll also determine the cause, whether it be environmental triggers like trees and pollen, food-borne like peanuts and dairy, the venom of insects like bees, or a medication like penicillin.
In addition to determining the allergen causing an immunological response in a patient, the specialist will treat the symptoms caused by the reaction.

would not recommend this facility to anyone. Was referred by high end specialist. upon contacting office for appointment was told if i saw PA Dr. Gruber reviews all records, and medications before you leave and discussion with him would take place. Absolutely not true. I saw hime as I was leaving, wished me lick. Not what I expected. Then they tried to make me deal withNYC pharmacy, I live on L.I. My gut says there's a huge amount of fee splitting, My experience in Insurance and healthcare says that the billing in this office is out of whack, creative perhaps. Get it?
I won't be coming back, and I do not recommend him. What a phoney bologna. He says one thing to your face and turns around and does something else. He has zero bedside manner and even less compassion and honesty. His treatment made me severely ill, and he was so unresponsive when I called the office to tell him. Basically blamed me and got offended when I asked questions before and after e procedure. I should have known not to trust him. When I asked for help with a new problem, he never replied and then made up excuses why he couldn't get involved instead of referring me elsewhere. His crabby old nurse is nasty and so terrible giving IVs that I wound up badly bruised after her 2 attempts with my great veins. The office is dingy and old, not what one would expect from one of LI's most experienced specialists. As a patient himself, he should know better than to treat patients the way I was treated. This was one of the most upsetting medical experiences I've evere encountered with my very significant problem. He seems more interested in working on his tan than helping patients in severe distress.
Dr. Gruber does absolutely nothing for me. I've been to 4 visits with him and all he has done for me is recommend the supplement: âTurmeric Curcuminâ (an Indian spice used in cooking) and exercise, which I cannot do because of the pain Iâm in. He has zero communication/people skills. There should be turn-style doors on his exam rooms as he's in and out that quickly. Seems like all I do is go there to give a co-pay and have him bill my insurance for a whole lot of NOTHING! I need to find a different Rheumatologist, one that actually treats his/her patients.
