Dr. Beverly Jean Alten, MD

I understand and support where she was coming from with this situation, but I do not believe that it was handled in a proper or caring situation. My child will not speak to strangers and struggles to advocate for herself. I try to encourage her to speak, but can also gauge when it will or won't happen. I knew that day she was very oppositional and didn't want to be there. I hadn't even gotten the word "well" out of my mouth before receiving a very firm lecture on why I have no place in the room and should not speak as my child is old enough to be considered an adult as a patient. When I was finally addressed, being asked why I felt we should be there, I shared my daughter is oppositionally defiant, adhd, socially delayed, will not talk to strangers and is likely autistic. After that, we were able to have a good conversation on the care and concerns for my daughter, but it set a negative tone for all involved. Remembering that not all parents are "helicopter" and some would love to have… their children speak for themselves, but won't is important to remember.

Dr Alten really took the time to explain everything to me, in detail, & I really appreciated that she didn't just rush through my appointment.

I've had the pleasure of being a patient of Dr. Alten for several years. She provides excellent care while making you feel important and valued instead of just another patient or number. I recommend her to everyone possible. She truly is a great doctor!

Easily the best doctor I've seen. Only reason I've quit recommending her is because that just means it'll be harder for me to see her! She's very real with you, and values each of her patients. When switching insurance providers, I made sure she accepted my new insurance. Highly recommended.

Dr. Alten is a combination of an educated professional, a mindful listener and a realistic mom. She understands women's health and makes sure her patients feel comfortable and informed. I recommend Dr. Alten to all of my friends... And they agree, she's the best!
