Nasty Doctor and nasty staff, she was very arrogant and aggressive towards me, thankfully a one time deal

Amazing doctor. Spent over an hour with me my first visit. Extremely knowledgeable, professional and empathetic. I am very fortunate to have her as a specialist.

I don't necessarily mind a doctor who isn't warm/doesn't come across as particularly compassionate as long as she seems competent. Dr. Gerecke fails on all counts. When unable to diagnose a sudden onset drop foot, (following an EMG) she dismissed the peroneal nerve injury as due to weight loss and alcohol use. My husband, the patient, is a social drinker and had lost about 30 pounds over 3 months of trying (down from 235, so not skinny and not fast). Wrong answer and very dismissive and cold. It's okay that you don't have an answer. It's not okay to label someone as a problem drinker because of it.

I found Dr. Gerecke to be very unprofessional. She made up symptoms that were not even there. I would never recommend her to another patient. She is horrible.

I saw Dr Gereke when she was practicing in a different hospital; don't know (yet -- am online to look into the possibility of having her help with a new problem). At the time she was doing a study which is in itself painful, and I was there with a painful condition. I have found too many neurologists to be arrogant and accusatory if symptom presentation isn't "tidy" -- not so for her!! She was kind, considerate about my comfort, and made thoughtful recommendations although she couldn't do anything definitive on that visit. I was just referred to a fancier specialist, but if she is willing to treat me as more of a generalist (if she still is ---) I would choose her over him in a heartbeat! re: follow up after the visit: I was sent specifically to her at the hospital where she was then practicing and to which I had been admitted for a fracture to my spine. She sent me back to the original general neurologist who had been following me for other neurological issues for years. It was… the right thing to do in the world of professional courtesies. On my part I thought highly of him but could tell that he was beginning to slow down his practice. Not long after he announced it. I had mixed feelings about not sticking with her, and do a bit now that I have a new problem and likely be essentially unknown to her. I have always known that when he left his practice I would most likely want to choose her. So her lack of hands-on follow-up was not negligent, but appropriate professional practice.

Dr. Gerecke diagnosed my condition that other doctors could not. For months my balance, walking, breathing, choking and swallowing, we're deteriating. I had many test including 4 MRIs, an MRA, swallowing test, 2 breathing tests, X-Rays, sonagrams, heart catherization, 2 nerve conductivity and muscle conductivity tests and much blood work, and I passes all tests or was in normal range. When I was recommended to Dr. Gerecke, I found her to be very professional , kind, compassionate and thorough in her examination of me and my condition. But most of all I found her to be determined to diagnose my condition. Well, she did. I have ALS. I would recommend Dr. Gerecke to anyone. I was so blessed to have her as my doctor. She is an angel to me.

Found Dr. Gerecke to be kind, thourough, wonderful bedside manner, discussed her findings with me in depth, just a wonderful, all around experience. Would recommend her in a heartbeat.

Dr. Gerecke is kind and amazingly compassionate. She is an excellent doctor and a thorough diagnostician. She was more than just my mother's doctor, she was a G-d send to my family. We will never forget that she was there for us, above and beyond what anyone would expect from a doctor in today's society. She is truely an angel.

Dr Gerecke was happy to give me Neuro tests that verified what I told her anyway. I had muscle and facial twitching, dizziness, vertigo and sweats. She could not diagnose and when asked told me that Lyme Disease wouldnt cause these symptoms. Every symptom I had is typical lyme related. Months later I was properly diagnosed and treatment began. She felt no responsibility to diagnose visual symptoms.

Before I saw Dr. Gereke I already had an abnormal EMG and had documented spams,weakness and muscle atrophy reported by 3 doctors. I was specifically sent to her for that reason.Before Dr. Gereke examined me she said (approximate)"Some people go from doctor to doctor for a problem when the problem is really an emotional one". She said this before she even examined me. However Dr. Gereke did an inadequate neuro exam and said that I had no weakness or atrophy and said I had an emotional problem. She never touched or palpated my muscles. Even my own internist did detailed exam and took the time to measure the circumference of my upper arm forearm and wrists. He found my dominant arm's circumference to be significantly smaller than the the other and that that I had visible atrophy and demonstrated weakness. My own internist believed me and ignored Dr. Gerekes "findings" and sent me to a different neurologist where I was properly diagnosed and subsequently had two surgeries which have… helped me greatly. I would not recommend Dr. Gereke due to her poor judgement . Patients come in all shapes and sizes and have their own emotional issues. It is not unusual for a patient to be anxious about a medical issue that greatly impacts their ability to work or their activities of daily living. Should a doctor ignore their validity and miss signs and symptoms of illnes that are right under their nose . This is where some of the biggest errors are made. Sensitivity is a form of intelligence . Not everyone has it .
