Dr. Bonnie S Shanis, MD

Dr. Bonnie Shanis is very personable and attentive to my needs. She always takes great care and time with every appointment. I cannot recommend her enough… She’s wonderful.

Dr Shanis is one of the very best physicians I have known. She is professional, competent, compassionate, and knowledgeable. She explains the situation clearly and answers any questions before treatment begins so you are comfortable and assured throughout the process. One feels that they are in very competent hands with Dr. Shanis…and indeed, they are.

Dr Shanis is kind and caring. My friend, who is her patient, has dementia, and Dr. Shanis treats her with great compassion and patience. She has also kept her thyroid condition under good control.

After seeing 4 doctors prior , I finally found a doctor that cared and can explain what is happening to me ! Dr Shanis did not brush off my concerns like the other doctors..hair loss, weight gain, stress, sleeplessness . She knew what test to order , questions to ask and more importantly she explained what can be done and what can help. She is friendly, pleasure to talk with and makes you comfortable enough to trust in her medical knowledge. She is awesome so happy I found her!

While the wait was short, I, like many of the others, felt she was only interested in the insurance. She put me on Rezulin, which was found to cause liver damage. While I DID need to lose weight, she also put me on Alli. I'm surprised I'm still as fairly healthy as I am. I went to another doctor who took me off her medications and put me on the tried and true meds. I feel much better and feel much more controlled with my current doctor. I feel that Dr. Shanis used me as a guinea pig and my health would have been compromised as a result.

She is unprofessional, her office is completely outdated in terms of technology and staffing, she lacks the skills and medical knowledge to diagnose and treat endocrinology diagnoses properly. She's most concerned about money; provides no back up physician to see patients while away on long (2-3 wk) vacations. Overall, one of the worst physicians I've had the unfortunate opportunity to deal with in the profession. Find another endocrinologist in the area!

As someone already noted, Dr Shanis is only interested in getting your insurance money. She does not use a computer, hands you a receipt written on a prescription pad and eager to make the next appointment. She has no office staff and does not listen to your concerns. Save your time and money.

The wait time is minimal, the appointment availability is good and she accepts insurance, but those things are not very important when you really need a good doctor, and she simply is not.Dr. Shanis is average at best.

Dr Shanis wss patient and listened to my problems. She discussed with me several different possiblities and made sure I understood all that she said. Each visit, after explaining things, she asked if I had any questions. Her treatment has taken me from poorly functioning to perfect.

She is only interested in money and not the patient. She puts down physicians who have much better rating than she does, but the fact of the matter is that she deserves less than a 1 star rating. Save your time and aggravation level and see someone competent ... not her.
