Dr. Bradley Joseph Battaglia, MD

Terrible little man with an attitude and doctor in my opinion. I knew he would be rude, when I walked by him on my way back to husband’s room in ER and he brushed past me, almost hitting me head on and did not even flinch to say, ‘excuse me’. He didn’t realize I was walking into the same room but when he did, he did not even introduce himself. To sum up the experience—my husband went in for extreme upper stomach pain, which was ignored mainly, as we kept telling them it most likely was some herbal supplements husband was taking. Dr. Battaglia was dismissive, arrogant, disinterested in what his original symptoms were, but was pushing to have my husband admitted overnight to the hospital for gallstones (which Dr. Battaglia even admitted were not causing the stomach pain). Dr. Battaglia and another incompetent ER Dr., named Dr. Meaders, told us my husband had ‘gallstones and ALOT’ of them. Then, Dr. Battaglia suggested they might ‘need’ to remove his gallbladder. Also, the other ER… Dr. told Dr. Battaglia my husband had ‘a few’ doses of morphine’—not true, he had only had one, at that time. The pain in stomach was never really addressed except for a stomach indigestion pain/cocktail. It didn’t help much. Basically, we went in with a simple but painful issue and Dr. Battaglia only focused on the gallbladder and gallstones, which even he knew were not causing the pain. In my opinion, they were only interested in running up an overnight hospital bill$$$ and possiblyremoving a healthy gallbladder. We know his gallbladder is fine/healthy, as we promptly left the ER, after they tried admitting my husband overnight WITHOUT even asking him. We actually have a decent IQ, so got out of there and fast. A good doctor friend of my husband suggested a very good and experienced GI specialist, who looked at the scans of husband’s gallbladder and ‘supposed’ MANY stones, that might need a gallbladder removed....Well, the experienced and recommended GI specialist, by our doctor friend, informed my husband a few days later and said his gallbladder was fine and the stones were very small, and in no way did my husband need the stones removed, much less the gallbladder taken out. Dr. Battaglia, was ready and willing to remove a perfectly healthy gallbladder. When we were in the ER with Dr. Battaglia, I asked him a couple of questions, like , ‘are the gallstones in the duct or gallbladder?’...and his response was ‘not as far as we know’. And, ‘what are side effects of removing the gallbladder?’. His response was, ‘not any, really’. And, the last straw was, ‘are they thinking of removing the stones or gallbladder?’ to which Dr. Battaglia answered, ‘well, we will have to wait to answer tomorrow’. So, basically, their game was to be ambiguous as possible with my husband, in order to keep him in the hospital overnight, for a condition that didn’t warrant it, much less even exist...and they didn’t really even address what my husband went into the ER for, anyway. Ever go in for a simple oil change, in a new-ish car, or car you know is in good shape and come out with a long list of ‘issues’ you know your car doesn’t have? Yeah, that’s what the experience at the Piedmont hospital ER and Dr. Battaglia and Meaders felt like.

Dr. Battaglia did surgery on me a few years back did a good job, was very personable.

I was given incorrect advice after a mastectomy in 2011. I have since verified if I had been told to see an oncologist at that time, my cancer would have had about an 80% cure rate. By his telling me he got all the cancer and, when I asked, was told the stage was 0-1 when I asked if I should see an oncologist, he said "only if you want to." two years later the cancer returned (was never totally gone), and I was diagnosed by an oncologist by looking at original lab reports that I have triple negative breast cancer stage 4 which has metastasized! Misdiagnosis was severe error and may have cost me years of healthy life...not a small mistake!!

Met by chance due to emergency illness. Came out with more issues than what i went in with. Would not recommend to anyone.

After my emergency treatment for bowel obstruction, Dr Battaglia visited me in the hospital for release and follow-up info. He was distant, disinterested and offered no info. I asked questions about diet, etc, and he barely responded. I do not recommend him.
