My wife had transitional kidney cell carcinoma and was being treated locally in Pennsylvania when we decided to seek treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. We were fortunate in being assigned Dr. Bradley Leibovich, chair of Mayo's urology department. Dr. Leibovich and his team conducted additional imaging and determined my wife also suffered from a previously undiagnosed lung tumor. (The lung tumor is now being treated by other specialists at Mayo and is well under control.) As to the kidney cancer, Dr. Leibovich recommended pre-surgical chemotherapy which was then engineered by an excellent oncologist at Mayo, Dr. Lance Pagliaro. (Mayo doctors believe in the "team" concept and stay well within the lanes of their expertise.) The 3 series of chemo treatments successfully shrunk the kidney cancer and reduced the chance of metastasis. Recently returned from Mayo after successful surgery. Dr. Leibovich removed my wife's cancerous kidney. No metastasis. I admire everything… about Mayo Clinic. Its professionals are very expert and have great attitude. Mayo Clinic is also a great research center. Whenever we need assistance, Mayo is only a phone call away. I believe Mayo Clinic saved my wife's life.
