Dr. Brant K. Oelschlager

This guy missed my LPR and GERD, which was eventually diagnosed by Dr. Jamie Kaufman in NYC. He thinks he knows more than what he actually does, and doesn't listen to patients. My experience with him was horrible.

After my life changing diagnoses, Dr Oelschlager was highly recommended. At my first appointment He was patient and thorough when I asked questions, it was his knowledge and calmness that put me at ease. His whole team is the very best.

Dr.Oelschkager is the best. I've seen other reviewers say he is (or seems) condescending or arrogant. Neither is true. He is a very nice man who is a world leading expert in minimally invasive gastric surgery. As a surgeon, he is clearly very confident and exceptional doctor. After THE esophagectomy, both Dr.Oelschlager and his team , which appears to be very large) have done an exceptional job of follow up and paying attention to me as a patient. While in Hospital he visited me daily to check in. The one thing that strikes me as important is that everyone on his team appears to like and respect him which makes me co rodent he is not only a top rate surgeon but also a leader. I'm so happy I chose Dr.Oelschlager.

I had a very complex procedure performed by Dr Oelschlager without complications and excellent results, so on than basis I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.He initially explained things very thoroughly but often seemed arrogant and condescending. I only saw him once after surgery but the residents always consulted with him so he always knew what was happening and that I was doing very well.

Granted you go to a surgeon for what else surgery but his failure to be sensitive to prior surgical disasters in my family left me feeling unheard. He seemed far more interested in teaching his residents than in answer my or my wife's questions and we had to use the nursing staff extensively to get simple questions answered with long delays. I was also surprised to not see him after the surgery and realized later that one of his residents did my surgery (without disclosing that up front).

Dr. Oelschlager is an excellent physician and surgeon. He is Professor of Surgery at UW School of Medicine and Director of The Center for Esophageal & Gastric Surgery and The Center for Videoendoscopic Surgery at UWMC. He leads a large and sentinent team of Doctors-in-Training, Fellows, and Staff. My surgical experience with Dr. Oelschlager and UWMC far exceeded my expectations! My heartfelt thanks to the operating team, surgical recovery unit, nurses who attended me, admin staff, medical industrial-engineering staff and leadership at UWMC.
