More about Dr. Brent Young Kimball

• Providing Hope….. Neurological illness can be devastating to anyone it touches. Whether your patient has a large brain mass, spinal tumor or intolerable back and leg pain, it requires a surgeon who is dedicated to the science but also has compassion, surgical skill and patience. Neurosurgical patients may be faced with devastating illness and often feel they have few alternatives for treatment and little hope. I never want my patients to feel that their disease has backed them into a corner, so I make it my goal with each patient to help them to fully understand their treatment options and together we develop a solid plan of care that provides hope and relief in those moments of difficulty. • Delivering the right care to meet each individual's needs \"No Surgeon has ever taken the time to help me understand my problem.” I am always surprised to hear how gratefully my patients are that I take time to help them understand their problem. I am genuine, informative and down-to-earth with my patients. I believe the more my patients understand their illness and the treatment options, the better positioned they are to control their own healthcare. I want to give my patients the highest quality surgical care and support that will allow them to maintain their health or return to and active lifestyle. I make an effort to personally connect with each of my patients. They know that I am genuinely invested in their well-being. • Bring the right approach for the right problem. I truly enjoy the variety of patients and the unique nature of each each illness. Because all spine patients, tailoring the right procedure to each individual patient can be the most challenging ingredient to a good outcome. I have diversified my expertise in many areas of spinal surgery including minimally invasive approaches, scoliosis surgery, spinal tumor as well as traditional approaches to the spine. Having expertise in alternative techniques allows me to treat each patient individually. I take time to fully understand my patient's goals and objectives as we develop their treatment plan. • Return to an active lifestyle… Spine surgery is not only about pain relief, but about improving functionality. I believe that if my patients are not more active after surgery than they were before surgery, then I have failed in my job. I make it a point to understand each patient's lifestyle goals, focusing on these goals helps to more clearly define success and quality outcomes. • Why did you choose your field? Neurosurgical illness can be devastating to anyone it touches. It requires a surgeon that is dedicated to the science but also has compassion, surgical skill and patience. Neurosurgical patients are faced with devastating illness often with few alternatives for treatment. From the beginning, I felt certain that I could provide hope and relief in those moments of difficulty. • How would you characterize your style of patient interaction or philosophy of care?
