Dr. Bret Michael Bellard, MD

I was never told by his office that he did not renew his contract with my insurance. I've been seeing him for a couple years and he was always in network. As of this year he is no longer in network, but his staff didn't tell me when I came in for a routine office visit that should've been a co-pay only. Since they didn't advise me I have now been billed $222 for a 10 minute visit with Dr. Bellard. Renown billing was not helpful at all when I inquired about why I was being billed the full amount. This is also the second time something was billed wrong. My annual physical a year ago which should've been free with my insurance (no co-pay)was also billed as an office visit and of course I was never refunded the co-pay amount. Bottom line is no one will try and help from Renown when something is billed wrong or your doctor doesn't renew his contract and is now out of network. Makes sense though, medicine seems to be all about the money these days and less about patient care.

My father is dying from ALS, and I am the sole caregiver. It's cost me my job, my financial future, and I haven't slept more than a few hours a night in months. I have daily panic attacks, can not sleep for more than a couple hours at a time, and fly off the handle completely every day over nothing. I didn't go in looking for hard drugs, I went in, desperate for ANY help. His EXACT words: "step back, take a breath, and if alcohol helps, go ahead." That last part was because I've been self-medicating with alcohol (for sleep mostly) and am genuinely terrified it's going to end in an addictive situation. I tried to argue, but he was already rushing me out the door. I don't think he so much as looked at me once.
