I won't comment on the doctors diagnosis, but only on my treatment as a self-pay patient. I had a gap in my coverage for a few weeks, and this is the only office that would not tell me how much a consultation might cost in advance-- not even a range of prices or an estimate. The comment at the front desk was "it depends on what happens at the consultation". Well, I was hopeful about the price, since I expected the consultation to be brief. And I was more than correct on the second point -- there was no physical examination, no tests, and the conversation could only have been more hurried if I had talked to the doctor while he was rushing to make his train. After being whisked out of the consultation, I was told by the cashier that this was deemed a "degree 3 consultation" and was associated with a price that is double the consultation fees I've received at other specialists. When I asked what caused the classification, I was met with a shrug: "that's what the doctor checked". I'm… surprised this is legal. I've heard of "pay what you wish", but never "charge what you wish"; certainly it's very different from how things have worked at other Mt. Sinai consultants.

9th gastroenterologist I have seen. Understood I don't like taking drugs and worked with me to let me pursue alternative treatment while also helping me get comfortable with having medical tests to find out how bad my diease was. A good listener

Dr Bernstein has been treating my Crohn's disease for 15 years. I don't know what I would do without him. He and his staff have made this horrible disease a lot easier to deal with. He's a 1 in a million

Did not feel confident in his diagnosis resulting in obtaining other opinions which disconfirmed his. Does not return calls requiring constantly calling to obtain his assistance.

I use social media and the web a lot for everything but only recently started to use it for my own healthcare. I write reviews for a lot of products I buy but this is like the first time I ever wrote sbout a doctor. I have known Dr. B for over 15 years and he has treated my crohn's disease. He is busy but when I see him always gives me the attention I need. Doctors now are rushed but he always pays attention to my complaints. I would never change.

I went to see this doctor to discuss having my first ever colonoscopy. He really made me calm about the whole process and the procedure was a breeze . I have ready told a couple of my friends
