Dr. Brian S Earthman

When I first started seeing Dr. Earthman I was having a very difficult time after my divorce and move, and struggling to make ends meet. I was on medication from a provider, but right away on my first visit he said that the doses were not therapeutic- that they were so low that they would not do anything. He changed my doses and I began to feel better. Even though they are medications I could get at a general provider, the support and knowledge here have been invaluable to me. I also have a new job and it feels like (and is) a start to a new life. I am very thankful.

See all these negative reviews? There's a reason for that - he is interested in one thing and one thing only: your money. If you do decide to book an appointment with him, go to his website first and read over his office policies. One of them specifically states that he charges $75 to fill out FMLA paperwork. The first (psych eval - $350) visit went fine, I wasn't terribly impressed as he was not through and barely asked me about my medical history. We finished up in about 20 minutes and he sent me out the door with a new prescription. The second visit, I brought him my 4-page FMLA paperwork and asked him if we could fill it out together during the session ($150), so I wouldn't have to pay the additional $75 just for 10 minutes of paperwork. He was staunchly opposed and would not budge, making statements like "the policy is the policy", "I went to medical school", "I charge $500 per hour for contract work"....the list goes on. I continued to gently press him regarding the $75 fee… and he continued to get more and more flustered and agitated, finally culminating with "if you don't like the way I run my business, I'll happily refund you the 150 'bucks' and you can see someone else". After he said this several times, I started to get the message - if I wasn't willing to pay his ridiculous fee, then he didn't want my business. So I left...walked out of the appointment early. I tried to call him later to file a complaint but he just had more lame excuses and said he had a "very important phone call" and couldn't speak with me further. The man is a complete buffoon and awfully predatory for someone who claims to be a mental health professional. I highly HIGHLY recommend seeking other psychiatrists. Unless you prefer to overpay an amateur.

Isn't willing to listen to what has worked in the past and instead decides himself what will work for the patient. Glad he was up front about his approach to my issues so I wouldn't have to waste any more time or money at his practice. Seemed like it was impossible for him to waver even a little bit on his opinions (some of which I respect, others are outdated and even dangerous) to better accommodate patients. Receptionist was nice. He wasn't mean either but he was definitely NOT personable or helpful. Doesn't seem very excited to be there (I hate work too, but I don't let it show in front of customers). Some other details: he has an annoyingly long wait list. Which surprises me because based on some of the things he said I would not have guessed that he was very popular... Maybe it's because his hours are weird, I don't know. Be aware that in order for an appt. to be scheduled they require credit card information, and I'm guessing the reason why is because if you can't make your… appointment, you must cancel it THREE BUSINESS days in advance. Otherwise you will be charged a cancellation fee. I know cancellation policies are present at the majority of most practices but really, THREE days notice? That's over the top and makes it seem like the practice is very adamant about collecting your money if you cancel. It's like "let's make it three instead of the standard one. Most people won't remember that it's three business days AND that a lot of cancellations happen after the three day mark so we give ourselves a lot bigger opportunity to collect money than if it were just one!" If you do decide to give this practice and Dr a chance (which who knows, everyone is different so he might be the right fit for you), you must fill out a new patient form on the website AND print out four pages of medical history questions. Or as the website says you can arrive a whole hour early to fill it out on site... Either way it's totally fun! Hope this review gave you some insight about this doctor. Walked out with none of my pretty basic psych issues solved and frustrated that while he actively treats substance abuse he had such outdated views towards it. Makes me kind of worried that other addicts who are new to recovery will think that since he's a doctor that they should do and agree with everything he says. Like I said some of his ideas (maybe not on purpose but still) can really be dangerous for some people.

I quit seeing Dr. Earthman after several visits because he confused my records with another patient. his receptionists are ineffective and rude. They gave me the date and time and when I showed up the office was closed for that day. Very disorganized situation.

Office manager was on vacation and no one bothered to check her voicemail. It took 4 days for me to reach someone after leaving a voicemail in another staff member's voicemail and one in the doctor. The doctor calls me the next day to tell me the following: "my office manager is in vacation so if you could please exercise patience someone will call you". He then proceeded to hang up the phone. I'm sorry but that's just rude. I have never seen such horrible customer service! Plus what a waist of time to call me just to tell me to have patience. He must have a lot of free time on his hand.

I met with Dr.Earthman three times for a total of about 30 minutes. I was just trying to get assessed for ADD. I paid $20 for the first visit. the same two weeks later for the assessment another $20 the next day to be told I do intact have ADD (this visit was less than 5 minutes) and a fee for the follow up to get a stronger dosage. When Dr.Earthman suggested a Pharmacy he could send the prescription to electronically I agreed. The Target pharmacy was not able to get all the information they needed from the office. Dr.Earthman insisted their system was not up to date and suggested another Target. this pharmacy was missing the same information. I went out of my way to find out what information they were missing so as to get the prescription I needed and left a message on Dr.Earthman's phone system. This morning I got a call from Dr.Earthman telling me to "cool it" with the messages (the only message I left) and that he would send my prescription to another pharmacy but charge me a fee… to do so. The other option given was to end services with Dr.Eathman. I elected to end my services.

INCOMPETENT STAFF

I think that Dr Earthman is an excellent doctor. I am surprised and not sure why there are bad ratings for him. He is calm and dedicated wants to help you with all of your issues. He listens and made me feel comfortable. I am glad that I started seeing him. I believe that instead of believing what you read on here, seeing him and deciding for yourself is absolutely the way that you should go. He believes that there is more to getting well than just talking and medication. Your whole well-being plays a massive role in your mental health. Taking care of yourself, includes taking care of yourself. If you truly want to become the person you should be, this is the doctor for you. I am very happy and satisfied with seeing him. He is not a doctor that will give you medication because of what you believe is your diagnosis. He is the doctor that will help you and will do what is best for you.

Dr. Earthman and his staff need a lesson on how to treat people or they should not be allowed to see patients. The lady at the front desk is very rude and has no consideration for your time or your presence. I went to go see Dr. Earthman and felt rushed...and also felt like he wasn't listening to me. I understand he is not a therapist, but I expect him to initially listen to me so he can give me a proper diagnosis. The only reason I chose him is because he is covered by my insurance, but I would rather pay out of pocket to see a reputable and GOOD psychiatrist than go back to see Dr. Earthman again. He lacks professionalism and bed side manner. If you want to be made to feel worse than before, go see him...if you want to help yourself, avoid Dr. Earthman at all cost. He is not worth it.

The title says it all, an emergency causing you to cancel, that will be $25 please, He cancels... too bad. Miss an appointment after he cancels.. that will be $75 please. You call him out on it, he drops you as a patient and bills your credit card on file.
