Dr. Gogel is the absolute best abdominal doctor in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, I had to have a 3rd surgery, and he was amazing. My scar looks better and he has the warmest smile, great beside manner, and he actually really does care about his patients. Even with issues I am having from surgery, he is still here being by my side like the amazing dr he is. I would NEVER go to a different dr again! I love you and your entire staff Dr. Gogel, you guys are a blessing!

Very unprofessional, horrible bedside manners... and will need additional surgeries. He will never face you before or after surgery... and then will go on vacation so he doesn't have to deal with any consequences. You will be left in pain, and back-up physician will say I can't prescribe anything because I am not familiar with your case. But they will rack up that bill and stick it to you. So run, do not... I repeat DO NOT USE THIS "DOCTOR".

Cancer patients are treated as experiments.

I believe some of these surgeons think they are demigods. Just because you can do surgery doesn't mean that you should. My beloved grandmother was referred to dr. gogel. He was the only doctor she had seen that was willing to perform surgery on her. She wanted to beat this dreadful disease and hopefully extend her life by 5...10 who knows possibly 15 years. Since he was so willing to take on the surgery, she put her faith in him that he was doing what was in her best interest. Dr. gogel's approach should have been yes as a surgeon I can do this; however from an ethical standpoint I will not attempt to. After surgery she was in a far worse state and felt worse than she ever had before. I can only imagine it was like being a caged guinea pig during the days that followed. Truth be told, maybe that's how terminal cancer patients are viewed by these doctors ... experiments. All the while lining their pockets.

10 years ago I was diagnosed with invasive melanoma. I was referred to Dr. Gogel. He was so nice and gentle not only to me but to my entire family. He was honest about the situation but still made you have hope. He never told me it was a death sentence or even close. It was not until I changed dermatologist and gave him a copy of my operative report that his comment was you should have only had around 6 months with this kind of diagnosis. I give credit not only to Dr, Gogel and my oncologist but to all the prayers that were said for me.

Upon first meeting Dr. Gogel, I could say ditto with the previous 4 star review in every way. My family was struggling with the very same emotions. Unfortunately, that's where the similarities end. I realize all of our situations are quite different. Any surgery is a serious matter. Let me say upfront, I mean no disrespect to others and their medical situation and/or treatment decisions. Our case was serious, a massive undertaking. Dr. Gogel wined and dined us (so to speak) made promises of calling him any time with questions/concerns. He gained our trust and put us at ease with his confidence and good nature. In hindsight I'd replace those discriptors with self interested and cunning. I feel Dr. Gogel took a rose colored approach to the surgery. He admitted afterward it was much more extensive than he'd anticipated. No doubt he over zealously plunged in feet first. After surgery that "call any time, I'm here for you" comfort that had reeled us in, was nonexistent. On one occasion,… he and a fellow colleague behaved unprofessionally and inappropriately in front of their very ill still hospitalized patient. We were beside ourselves with fear and uncertainty; very much in need of from the heart care and concern. These two were so self involved and busy catching up. Concern for their patient and our questions and concerns seemed to be an afterthought. We sat there gaping in disbelief. One minute they're addressing us, the next it was like we were invisible. Condescending, belittling and disrespectful is how I would describe it. I cannot in good faith recommend Dr. Gogel. If you're like me and get that gnawing gut feeling, pay heed to it. Our family would have gone down a very different path had we kept the terms of our destiny in our own hands and not those of an egocentric.

I entered his office terrified of the unknown. By the end of the assessment, I left knowing that my future health and well-being would be in the best hands with Dr.Gogel. He was punctual, always available for any question from me and/or my family members at any time, quirky sense of humor, but most of all, confident...and that is what put me at ease...his confidence in his skills and abilities. Kudos to wonderful doctor!
