Dr. Ragel has performed spinal fusion surgery that has allowed me to have an active and productive life. He is also very personable and caring. Absolutely the best!

Had brain surgery from Ragel. Numerous complications including aseptic and bacterial meningitis, 5 spinal fluid leaks and 2 months in the hospital. Instead of fixing the problem at the time. He literally super glued my insision covering the implant that was severely leaking CSF. After seeing several more drs after the surgery, I learned he used the wrong type of implant and that is why my surgery failed. Both drs said if there was a leak, it should have been opened back up immediately and fixed correctly. Instead, he super glued the skin, hiding the problem. Now I need to have to surgery redone with the correct type of implant. Complications from his surgery created numerous additional problems. After he left OHSU, I went to see what he could do to fix the this at Rebound. Waited over 2 months for an appt in severe pain and vertigo. Ragel walked in, looked at my new imaging, he said he will be right back. I waited in his exam room for over an hour. He never came back. I asked a nurse… and she said he had left and went into another surgery. Left me hanging. I called and complained to his staff. He called me back a week later recommending another surgery and that the reason he left my appt was from stomach issues. Exactly the opposite his staff told me the day of my appt. I feel he lied to me on purpose to protect himself. After seeing 2 more top Neurosurgeons, they said his recommendation was unnecessary and dangerous. Both told me he used the wrong type of implant. I highly suggest you do not go to Dr Ragel. He ruined my life and did everything he could not to accept responsibility or try to fix the problems he created.

Dr Ragel prefermoed my surgery. He did a wonderful job at listen to my concerns, answering my questions, and made me feel comfortable in allowing him to do my surgery. He is patient with every question and responds in a timely manner. He truly knows what he is doing and does a good thorough job. He doesn’t make you feel rushed. Dr Ragel has your well being at heart and makes sure that everything is in order and where it is supposed to be before moving his pairings to the next stage of recovery.

My husband went to Dr Ragel for a second opinion. The doctor pretty much blew my husband off. We wanted to know what he thought about what another doctor recommended as far as another surgery for a cervical neck fusion. He at one point, smiled and said u probably have a slow growing tumor & headaches do not come from u r neck. We would not recommend this doctor to anyone. We both left dumb founded as to what just happened.

I had this Dr. After surgery he quit, and left me hanging. He didnt finish the Job, I have more pain after he got done with me. Ive been hanging for 7 months to find a new Dr. The work he did fix some things But made other things worst. He left OHSU in a big rush, What happend to you. I now have a problem with trusting a new Dr. Thanks for NOTHING DR Ragel

Dr. Ragel offered me surgery and it went very well. I recovers quickly and my back pain is gone.

Dr. Ragel is a kind, loving doctor who cares about the WHOLE patient. I fell 3years ago and experienced a compound fracture to my L2....it has been a long road. Two years ago Dr. Ragel did a Kyphoplasty and it did help to relieve some of my pain. He has continued to follow and treat my back issues and for that I am eternally grateful. I can't imagine entrusting my spine care to anyone else!

My dad was in a terrible car accident a few weeks ago. Dr. Ragel and the entire OHSU team helped him recover from a bad back fracture. I can't thank then enough.
