Dr. Brian Keith Rundall, DO

Dr. Rundall was very kind and compassionate and did a wonderful job with my surgery. I had my left lung removed and spent five days in the hospital. It has been 8 weeks today since my surgery and I feel almost back to normal. I am very thankful for his skills and care and feel blessed to be here.

Dr. Rundall performed my triple by-pass in August, 2017. I first met him in June when I had my heart attach. He is a very concerned and caring person and an amazing surgeon. My procedure and recovery have been as explained. Dr. Rundall has taken the time to talk with me and explain the procedure and recovery thoroughly. I would not wish open heart surgery on anyone but if you are faced with it and have a choice, Dr. Rundall would be a good choice.

Dr. Rundall was very easy going. He was my surgeon for open heart surgery. I can't say enough good things about him. I would recommend him to anyone. Great Doctor!

Dr. Rundall was one of the Physicians seeing my mother who was dealing with her second bout of breast cancer, metastatic this time. The cancer created fluid around her heart and she needed a window put in the pericardium, which saved her life. What a soft mannered, thoughtful Doctor he was, answering all of our questions in a respectful and well explained manner on the floor and when she was in ICU. Thank you Dr. Rundall for your kind manner and giving your best to us. My mother is still fighting the battle with the cancer via T. Buroker at this time Jan 2015.

Dr Rundall was attentive, patient, took time to answer all of our questions and was very honest and realistic. He has advocated for my mom with other doctors and has given us better care and follow up than was even expected of him. We totally trust him and his opinion. He is a real gift to Iowa. I would highly recommend him and am so pleased we happened to get him as our surgeon.

Dr. Rundall has totally restored my faith in him. The second appointment for my lobectomy went better than I ever could have imagined. The surgery was a complete success. Dr. Rundall went out of his way to keep me informed every step of the way which relieved my stress tremendously. During my surgery, my wife was given hourly updates as to how the surgery was going and Dr. Rundall met with her immediately after to explain how well everything went. The whole experience was better than I expected. Dr. Rundall and the staff went above and beyond to make my hospital stay as pleasant as humanly possible. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Rundall and Iowa Methodist Hospital to everyone. This man is a great doctor. I couldn't be happier.

I was referred to Dr Rundall by my pulmonologist. My first appointment he was too busy for me and I had to reschedule after sitting in his waiting room for an hour and a half. The second appointment went good and he detailed what he planned to do for my lung cancer. Scheduled surgery for 9 AM two days later and was bumped all day long until I decided he looked extremely tired and when he wanted to do a rush surgery because of the late hour, I opted to go home and reschedule for another day when I could get his full attention. I felt like I was not important enough for him to take the time needed for his original plan. By the end of the day after numerous surgeries I was not going to get his "A" game and I have lost my faith in him as a surgeon. I would not recommend him until he is able to manage his time better and take the time needed for each individual patient. He did not even remember who I was after only two days since my appointment with him until I reminded him that he… failed to show up for my first appointment. At this time in my life with this stressful lung cancer diagnosis I will not tolerate anything less than the best from my surgeon. All he did was add to my stress and cost me money for unnecessary trips to Des Moines. I feel like I have no other choice but to get a second opinion from a different surgeon and hopefully I will find one that takes the time needed for such a delicate surgery and not just "get in and get out" as he told us he wanted to do at the end of a very long and stressful day!
