Dr. Bruce William Fuller, MD

I have a history of serious skin cancers. I’m also old enough to have had good dermatologists in my life, and I know what a thorough mole check is. Dr. Fuller is the least thorough dermatologist ever. He barely got within 2 feet of me and never used the magnifying glass other dermatologists use to look at moles. This was a first time appointment - he should have been taking a closer look. He spent a total of seven minutes with me and that was for a full body/mole check, a rash on my chest, and a bump on my back. What was most offensive is when I told him about a bump on my back. He glanced quickly and said it was a cyst and asked if there was anything else I needed. I told him I was worried about it. He asked, “What are your worries?” I explained it’s been there over a yr and keeps getting bigger. He said, “But what are your worries?” I didn’t understand why he was asking the same question but was trying to answer his question. I said, “Do you mean in terms of pain?” He sighed audibly… and said, “I just want to know your worries. I’m not going to give you the answer.” It was at that point I realized not only does he not care, he is unkind. I am a nice person and I’m a good at answering questions; I’m sitting there unclothed with a thin paper gown on, I could not be more vulnerable, and he gives me a dismissive, condescending attitude? He made me feel like crying and I knew right then he was only going to give me a superficial examination, which he did. I again explained my worry and added that if it wasn’t growing I wouldn’t be worried, trying to appease him. After going around like this three or four times, he finally said he would refer me to another doctor in the office because he doesn’t perform surgeries. I was shocked at his flippant, superior attitude. I cannot believe he is allowed to treat patients the way he does. Finally, I showed him the rash on my chest. He was about 4 ft away from me - another quick glance but did not move closer and did not examine the rash. I asked, “I had a rash on my chest years ago, could it be the same?” and he said, “That’s what it is.” At this point it was clear he wanted to end the appointment. He wasn’t even looking at me. I explained I had been treating the rash with my old rash medication but it wasn’t going away. And he repeated, “Oh no, that’s probably what it is.” And he ended the appointment. His assistant told me after he left that if the rash is still there in two weeks to call. (I ended up having to call the assistant and buy a 2nd costly prescription because he wouldn't look at it the first time). After the appt I looked up his reviews, and while there are a few five star reviews, there is a clear pattern of one star reviews in which he treats patients with a dismissive attitude and performs cursory examinations.

My Mother had a most unpleasant appointment with Dr. Bruce Fuller and I want to address my total dissatisfaction. Rarely have I seen such a dismissive and less compassionate attitude than exhibited by a representative of the Skin Cancer and Dermatology Institute in Carson City. This “Institute” promotes itself with the words, “We strive to make your visit to any of our locations as comfortable as possible by treating you like more than a patient; we treat you like family.” Nothing could be more distant from the truth when dealing with Dr. Fuller. During her visit to address a bout with melanoma, a speedy biopsy, other facial and tag issues, she expressed a quick concern about her hair loss; he responded that at her age it was to be expected and the only rectification was, “inventing a time machine.” Besides stating such a callous remark to someone approaching 90, I expected someone with a Ph. D. to utilize his education and suggest remedies (Rogaine, transplants, etc.)--but nothing… was offered as he addressed her skin issues. Most disconcerting, after his rapid treatment of her facial matters, was how he then dealt with her follow up skin questions and hair loss. He instructed his nurse to write down my Mother’s questions and then scampered out of the room. Having visited too many doctors in the past, I have NEVER witnessed a more detached medical practice in addressing a patient’s concern. So much for “family.” So, avoid Dr. Fuller as his sincerity is of veneer depth and his medical procedure is delegated to his nurse—upon which he will then celestially reappear with answers.

Diagnosis for my neck rash was useless but firtunately another doctor gave a different opinion and it disappeared in a week. Dr fuller’s further warning about an allergic condition he thought i had proved incorrect as well. When leaving messages to confirm upcoming appointments, his office never called back until when I made contact after multiple times a receptionist said I was discontinued as a client. When I asked why their detailed response was the first impressive results i have seen from this office. Bottom line the service was lax and unprofessional in my opinion.

Exceptional physician, attentive, answers questions, excellent care. I have ongoing issues and care is consistent, timely. I have confidence n Dr Fuller
