Dr. Gillespie graduated from the University of Rochester (New York) School of Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree with Distinction in Research. He completed his orthopaedic surgery training in the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program in Boston, Massachusetts. This training included working at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham & Womenâ€™s Hospital, Boston Childrenâ€™s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Veterans Affairs Boston Healthcare System. He served as chief resident at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Gillespie subspecialized by completing the Harvard Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Brigham & Womenâ€™s Hospital, Boston Childrenâ€™s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.

After his training, Dr. Gillespie was appointed an Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and a staff orthopaedic hand and upper extremity surgeon at Boston Childrenâ€™s Hospital. There …he worked alongside his mentors, Dr. Peter Waters and Dr. Donald Bae. He is interested in helping patients of all ages with sports-related injuries, traumatic injuries, congenital differences, and other conditions affecting the shoulder, arm, elbow, forearm, wrist and hand.

Originally from Edina, Minnesota, Dr. Gillespie graduated from Williams College (Massachusetts).

Dr. Gillespie is not a reliable resource for his current patients. Our son, who is a patient of Dr. Gillespie‘s, has a new injury for which Dr. Gillespie refused to see him. We are disappointed that Dr. Gillespie essentially eliminated our ability to select the doctor of our choosing. Doctors in general should demonstrate more loyalty to the patients they serve.

My daughter smashed her finger in a door last Spring. Dr. Gillespie performed surgery and casted the finger. Happy to report it's good as new! Doctor and staff were all exceptional in every way.

We love Dr. Gillespie he is always so nice and patient. He has always made appts for my son since he is constantly breaking something lol. We love love this dr. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Gillespie treated my daughter's fracture aggressively which enabled us to avoid surgery. He always took time to answer my questions and we never felt rushed. He is excellent with children and I would recommend him without reservation.

Dr. Gillespie is an excellent surgeon & a brilliant doctor. It's a shame that his medical assistants are unprofessional and uncaring. I had an accident with several severe injuries to my elbow and wrist. My accident was traumatic experience for me with major life changes to my normal abilities with my left arm. The medical assistants were unprofessional on several occasions. I felt shunned when I spoke up to express my unhappiness of the level of care. One of his medical assts dropped the ball on scheduling a special 3D/CT scan for me. I expressed concern and they retaliated on my next appt. I had to wait for 45 mins to be seen by the doctor. There were other patients that came in after me that were seen before me. All of the office staff were very cold that were once friendly to me. The medical asst that dropped the ball acted very immature and aloof....never apologized. The other medical asst was hot or cold. I felt that she was not genuine at times. After my 6 month follow up… appt, I am not sure if I will return to this practice.
