Dr. Canan Avunduk, MD

During the time I was under Dr. Avunduk's treatment starting in approximately 2001, I was very sick. I believed that she was knowledgeable and trustworthy. She made me believe that she truly cared for my well being and never gave me reason to doubt her. At that time she diagnosed me with colitis and often times said crohns to describe my so called disease. Several years ago, I started seeing a new, highly regarded dr. Over a period of 3-4 years, he ran a number of tests which included everything from X-rays to cat scans and mri's and routine colonoscopys. All tests confirmed absolutely no signs of colitis. When myself and my doctor repeatedly requested records and photos from the tests dr. Avunduk performed, she did not respond. Later, we were told these photos were missing and the only thing we had was confirmation that pathology never confirmed colitis. Today, I met my current doctor who did research on her. He confirmed that she is known for using the term colitis to describe… any type of inflammation. Many patients have complained. I was also mistreated for years with high doses of medication which cost me more money than I can account for. Not only that but the effects of the 20 plus pills a day and injections, made my hair fall out in abundance and my nails so brittle. I was always so weak. Until, I decided to stop seeing her and stopped the meds. Shortly after, I found myself improving dramatically. My current doctor has since properly diagnosed me with confirmation from specialists in Boston and I'm finally on the road to recovery and a Normal life, almost 13 years later. I'm saddened to realize how bad my care was and knowing other people were misdiagnosed as well is scary. If I had the means, I'd be sure she never practiced on anyone including her new spa she opened. I'm certain that while she is not practicing medicine any longer, I bet that woman and Botox can be dangerous too. I cannot begin to describe how I feel. Years of anguish and suffering, at her mercy. That's no doctor!!!

I had been sick for three years and my pcp did'nt do anything about it. I got so sick I went to the emergency room, and was referred to Dr. Avunduk. In a weeks time I found out what was wrong with me. She is quick 2 days after leaving to emergency room I saw her and the day after I had an endoscopy. I found out I have Ciliac disease and had pacreatitis and possibly gallstones. I am so glad I met her. I was so sick and going crazy thinking what could be wrong with me? She figured it out. Thanks Dr. Avunduk.

Have seen many doctors and Dr. Avunduk is definately the most professional of all. Extremely accurate and caring, with a wonderful and warm personality. My luck to meet her when I was rushed to hospital with severe blood loss due to bleeding ulcers. She saved my life !

I had a possible medical emergency during my final month of pregnancy. My OB/GYN called Dr.Avunduk and she met with me that night at 9 PM so I wouldn't have to wait another day to get results. Thankfully there was no real medical problem, it turned out to be a false alarm. I saw her again 6 months later just for a follow up and she was able to take care of a problem that other doctors had been working on for 5 years!!! She was KIND, UNDERSTANDING, PATIENT, and WONDERFUL.

Dr. Avunduck isabsolutely NOT the doctor to go to to treat any medical conditions. She has too many patients, is unable to spend adequate time with them, does not show an ounce of empathy and is ultiamately very dangerous in her care. I ended up leaving her practice after two terrible visits and the Boston MD I went to was HORRIFIED by the care I had been given. I was given prescriptions that I NEVER should have had! When I discussed this issue with Dr. Avunduk her very first response was, "Well I have a lot of patients, I do my best." What a terrible terrible thing to say! She has too many patients and is unsafe! Dr. Avunduk is by far the worst experience I have ever had with an doctor.
