Dr. Cara L Hammonds, MD

I drove an hour and a half to see dr hammonds. I have had extreme joint pain for 5 years now. I had blood work which showed something is wrong. Upon arriving she said my blood work was fine. She acted like nothing is wrong even though I told her this isnt normal. I left crying and feeling hopeless.I spoke to my primary doctor about this. He said he did an ANA test. It can either be negative or positive. I am positive, so there is something wrong. He is referring me to a different doctor. She also said I could try meloxicam but I would need a liver test...even though it is metabolized in the kidneys. Dont go to her. Find a doctor who cares.

Good visit and good beside manner. I will be going back.

Would not work with my Rheumatologist at Vanderbilt and would get angry when I sought second opionions on things. I have a very severe case of Lupus and it’s important to get the best care. She would also act like I was “bugging” her when I could tell I was getting sick or lung infections. I always ended up in the hospital, once having to be transported to Nashville. My last visit was after one of these episodes, she refilled my meds, I received a letter saying she would no longer be my doctor and she canceled all my refills leaving me scrambling to get my Lupus medications. That’s a really great ethical move!

My visit with Dr. Hammonds went very well. I like the way she spent time explaining my diagnosis and answering my questions. I would highly recommend Dr. Hammonds.

Dr. Hammonds is the third rheumatologist that I've been to, and she is by far the best. She has more knowledge about the rare disorder that I have than other "specialists" I've seen at major learning hospitals. She has taken me through all the medications she thought might help and explained the pros and cons of each at length. I would recommend her to anyone!

Dr. Cara Hammonds is such a caring knowledgeable, and dedicated physician! Her compassion for her patients truly shines through. She takes her time and is very thorough. I wish every doctor that I have had over the years were as patient, kind, and friendly as she is. She is very genuine and has a great bedside manner. She cares for her patients in the most effective way for each individual. She goes way above the call of duty! I give her 5 Stars and would most definitely recommend her to anyone needing rheumatologic care! Our region is truly blessed to have the services of Dr. Hammonds!!

Mrs Hammonds had better things to do or a severe lack of medical knowledge to diagnose me. The 30 seconds she spent talking to me was used to pass me off to a different doctor. Physical assessment left her blank and puzzled. Save the time and money. Wait for Dr. Phillips or head out of town.

Dr. Hammonds had NO compassion what so ever. Never made eye contact. She could of cared less. Wouldn't recommend.

Not impressed with this physician at all!! Physicians bedside manner was poor, not friendly at all. Will never go back!! Promptness due to the fact that no one else was in there.. not very busy..... wonder why... fast talker- typical doctor attitude.
