My experience with Dr Palese was great. She is caring, personable, and takes the time to both understand your issues and to communicate her suggestions and the course of treatment. In my particular case she was able to diagnose a condition I've been dealing with for quite a while that had been misdiagnosed by multiple previous gastroenterologists. This diagnosis and her referral to a well-respected surgeon made a significant difference to my quality of life and I'm very thankful how kind and patient both she and her staff were through all my interactions with them.

My sister followed all requirements for preparing for colonoscopy. Asked me to attend with her so that means I took a day off from work. After following everything as directed, the dr. Indicated she was not able to perform colonoscopy. She said several times could not complete then literally scribbled on back of report what my sister “should “ do next time. Offered no concern, understanding or recognition of what my sister managed to prepare per her directions and prescriptions and how not being able to complete the procedure could impact my sister. Nor I who took a vacation day would be affected. She didn’t care. Getting colonoscopies completed is one of the most difficult preventative health procedures for patients to complete. Her managing of my sister’s situation speaks to why anyone would bother again. Definitely not trauma informed or patient centered. A disappointing experience.

Dr. Palese is one of the most unprofessional doctors I have seen. As the head of Motility Disorders in Georgetown, she knows very little or nothing, about rare diseases such as mine: gastroparesis. She dismissed my symptoms and concerns and refused to acknowledge my presence- only directing herself to my mother, even though I'm a 23 year old female. I had to go see another doctor at GW who is now finally treating me correctly. She should learn more about patient care and study more about motility disorders, before calling herself an "expert". She also said she's "fluent" in Spanish, which is confusing since her language ability is next to non-existent.

A family friend highly recommended Dr. Palese to me. By the time I took my friends advice she was the 5th doctor I had seen regarding my symptoms and the 3rd gastro doctor. She listened and took notes as I gave her the long list of symptoms I had over several months and what other gastro doctors had been testing/giving procedures for. I was assuming she would recommend one of the many other procedures the other doctors had been telling me I needed. However, by actually listening she didn't think it was gastro at all and ordered several blood tests that I had done the day I saw her. 22 hours later I receive a call from her ( I never even knew lab results were available that quickly). She had found the issue and sent me to another fantastic doctor in endocrinology. Dr. Palese made the appointment for me and I was in the endocrinologist office at 8:30AM the next morning. I had a rare autoimmune disease and with medication I have made a complete recovery. The diagnosis wasn't from… several difficult procedures, just some simple blood tests. What took months for other doctors to never figure out, she literally knew what it was in a day and a couple days later I was on the correct medications. I never write reviews but I have never been so impressed by a doctor or an individual as I was with Dr. Palese. HIGHLY recommend her.
