Dr. Carl Frank Schiff, MD

I've been to many doctors and Dr. Schiff is by far the worst I've been to. He has no compassion what so ever and was no help at all. The visit was a waste of my time and when he called me to give me the blood results 4 days later than he said he would he said they were negative and that was the end of the conversation. I went to him for help and answers but its not even that he had none for me he seemed not to even be bothered with what I was telling him. I asked him during my visit if I should stop taking my meds and he said you can if you want which I thought was strange, either I should or shouldn't not If I want to! I have never written a bad review before and usually laugh at the people who do and never believe what they are saying but if you have a choice find another doctor.

went there twice and he took my blood 2 times . his final answer was I cant help you nothing more nothing less. no reason given and so my time was spent for nothing . still having pain

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE OTEHR RECENT PATIENTS THAT LEFT REVIEWS. HE HAS COMPLETE LACK OF EMPTHAY! HE PUT ME ON VERY STRONG MEDICATION THAT HE DID NOT MONITOR CORRECTLY, CAUSING ME TO BECOME EXTREMELY SICK! HE THEN HAS THE NERVE TO NOT RETURN MY PHONE CALLS AFTER HE MESSED UP! WHEN YOU ASK ABOUT ANYTHING HIS REPLY IS "I DONT KNOW...WHAT KIND OF DOCTOR IS THIS? YALE MEDICAL SCHOOL ,? TO BEOME AND IRRESPONSIBLE, CARELESS MONSTER. IF YOU ARE SICK SEEKING HELP OR DIAGNOSIS, STAY AWAY FROM HIM, SOMETHING IS WAY OFF WITH HIM, ACTUALLY PRETTY SCARY!!!!!

Felt comfortable not being spoken down to

Dr. Schiff is a quack despite his rave reviews online, I had both my hips replaced at the age of 39 on his watch. He didn't monitor my prednisone use for rheumatoid arthritis and allowed me to take it for 2 years, he ignored my calls when I was in serious pain and refused to give me another X-ray when I suspected the original read was wrong, which it was. I developed end stages osteonecrosis in BOTH hips. He never even called to see if I was ok when he found out, and didn't return any of my calls. Be careful out there, he's old and tired doesn't care anymore he gets the same pay for all patients so he has no motivation to help anyone.

Takes pride in his work

My Mother, was a patient of Dr. Schiff, for a number of years. As, of lately, he has demonstrated disinterest in her condition. Also, he refuses, to schedule an appointment for her! In addition, my mother is in ongoing pain, and he will not renew her, very necessary medications. This is an absolute disgrace!!!! for this type of behavior!

I came in to see Dr Schiff because I have been experiencing severe muscle pain in my upper back for 8 years. I was told by physical therapist and a nuerologist to see a Rheumatologist. I looked up some doctors and found Dr. Schiff. He went to Yale medical school. So, I thought, wow he must be very educated and might figure out the cause of my problem. He calls me in doesn't even look at me. I thought, ok.. doesn't matter. I don't care of he's friendly or not. As long as he can diagnose me. He asked me for basic info in a very careless monotone voice. It seemed like he didn't want to be there. There he decided to examine me. The examination last 2 minutes. I am not exaggerating 2 minutes! Then he told me what he concluded from his examination. He told me, that my muscles are not weak and that my range of motion is fine and my joints are ok. Really? I wasn't complaining that my muscles were weak or that my range of motion was bad or that my joints were not ok. I told him Dr. what about… the problem I came here with? Why do my muscles hurt? He simply said "I DON'T KNOW" in a very careless voice. Then he said I can proscribe you some anti-inflamatories IF YOU WANT. huh? It's kind of like calling a pharmacy when they offer you a flu-shot. He prescribed "Naproxen" which goes by the brand name "ALEVE" He didn't offer for me to take a blood test and to start digging for the problem. He simply said. "I DON'T KNOW. If you want a doctor like that be my guest. Over all I was in and out in 5 minutes. Now I am seeing a different Rheumatologist who also didn't know what I have but she didn't say "I DON'T KNOW" She's doing what any normal doctor would have done. We are doing a bunch of different tests to rule out certain diseases. I'm 31 years old. "I DON'T KNOW" just doesn't cut it for me.

Dr. Schiff is a true professional - he takes the time to explain your symptoms, diagnosis and treatment in layman's term so you're comfortable with his service.
