Dr. Carol A. Aylward, MD

Even though I left the office without being approved for surgery, I will still recommend Dr. Aylward and her team to anyone looking for a surgeon. If anything, I'd recommend her more now. She looked over my files, listened to my physical and mental health history and what I have been treated for, what steps I've taken to get here and what my plans were before surgery if I was approved. When she didn't know what something was, she listened as I explained it and didnt treat me as a child like most doctors do. However, the thing I respect most is that she was honest and that she cares for her patients. She didnt want to risk me having an epileptic episode with how far away I live and her not being able to help. The other issues (weight, scabs on the chest, etc) can be cleared and even the distance or the seizures wasn't an issue on their own. It was just the combination of the two that concerned her and she was concerned about my safety. I'm glad she'd rather put her patient's safety… over their want for a surgery (mine was for a gender top reconstruction surgery) and didnt try and fake through until the week of surgery before backing out. She told me she was proud of the weight loss I achieved (56 lbs in 2 1/2 months), how much research I have done about the subject and how much I've come through and that she had higher standards than a lot of surgeons because she wants her patients to be safe through and after the surgery. She gave me some resources to find surgeons closer and said that if I need to ask her opinion on any of them or even advice for what to look for, just let her know. She really wished she could take me on as a patient, but she didn't feel comfortable with the situation I was in, and I can't fault her for that. Although I am a bit disheartened she can't be the one performing my surgery, at least I know I have someone like her willing to help me find a surgeon that will treat me well. Her staff is also phenomenal and the clinic has a family-lime vibe to them. If you want a surgeon that will be honest and cares about your health and a team that treats you like more than a patient, then I definitely recommend Dr.Aylward and her team.

My experience with Dr. Aylward has been, from the begining, one of trust and respect. She, and all of the crew at University Health, from the start were very professional and respectful of my position as a trangender indevidual, and making sure all my questions and concerns were addressed. Dr. Aylward gave me her personal number in case I had any questions prior to surgery, and overall I felt such a motherly love from her. She has a deep level of concern and care for your recovery. I had no pain. Even after surgery I was able to be pretty mobile and self sufficient. I really think Dr. Aylward is a true artist.

Dr Aylward did the most amazing job on my tummy tuck! She is a true artist and my results are flawless!! Even all of the staff at the hospital told me that I was smart to have chosen her. Even though I’m living in Florida now I’m planning on flying back to have her do a BBL for me because she is in my eyes the only option. You will not be disappointed!!

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Aylward and her team. She is extremely professional and is truly the best at what she does. I immediately felt at ease with her, because I knew I was in good hands. I highly recommend her and her entire team.

My son was recent patient of Dr Aylward. Dr. Aylward has a wonderful bedside manner. She answered all questions being very direct with no nonsense which I appreciate and like very much. One thing that is very telling is how well all the staff talk about Dr. Aylward. Everyone loves her and we can see why. After the surgery she was very accessible to answer any questions or concerns via phone and text.
