Dr. Carol Tanner-St. James, MD

My first visit appointment. Dr St. James brought another person in room with white coat on (dr's wear white coats) with no introduction so I kept wondering why this white coat person was standing there and staring rather intently at me. Dr St. James started commenting on my previous extensive oxygen tests that were done by a specialist who determined I did not have COPD (that is in writing by him). I had passed the hospital's extensive spirometry test. Dr. St. James kept debating the specialist determination with me which made me upset and uncomfortable. Rather than let me feel good about my specialist's findings, she chose to cause me to feel badly where it was not necessary by stating "you're under the umbrella". When I repeated what my pulmonologist said, she finally stated "it's all the same". At this point I was uncomfortable but tried to then discuss some other symptoms I was having such as insomnia and hoping I could get a sleep apnea test, but when I said I have… "insomnia" she abruptly said "so do I" and dismissed my statement. Insomnia can be a symptom of other conditions such as anemia. I said at least I have good oxygen saturation and she immediately responded "but it's not as good as mine". At this point I felt my appointment was not about me and I just didn't feel I could really speak up. During this time the white coat person is still fixed on watching me and listening and this is still distracting me. I asked her who she was, and if she was a student and she said yes. Nobody asked me if it was alright with me nor introduced me to her. I was simply left to feel confused by this person's presence. I had very personal medical questions I wanted to ask the dr and also other odd symptoms that I certainly wanted privacy but at this point with this Dr I was giving up. Dr. told me she was ordering blood work and to have done two months later. I got the blood work done and was shocked to see that the only blood work ordered was cholesterol. About four months later I found another primary care who did blood work which showed I was ANEMIC still having the same symptoms I felt when I saw Dr. St. James. I was very much disappointed in this doctor.

This review is way overdue. I just want to say how phenomenal Dr. Carol St. James and her nurse Christie are. They are warm and caring when it comes to their patients. I had a situation and they went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. Thank you for your service as an awesome doctor and nurse.

I like Dr. Carol, I really do. But I almost always have to wait well over an hour for scheduled appointments. If this is something that happens consistently in your office, schedule less appointments. It is disrespectful to the patient and unacceptable. Use your brain, consider your patient, and don’t always think about the bottom line.

I saw dr carol for the first time yesterday and I immediately felt I had made the right choice. She made me feel very comfortable and the office staff I encountered on my visit were very nice. I would recommend her to friends and family.

This staff and doctor are the best I've been to, ever. First, a real person answers the phone. Then a visit to the office is efficient and friendly. Then the doctor takes time to fully complete the visit. I recommend this doc and staff to all.

Am very pleased with her. She is knowledgeable & takes time to explain. She's also kind & a warm-hearted person. She made me feel comfortable right away. She really is a wonderful doctor. Would recommend her to anyone.

called for a physical - was there in 2014 so I had to have a new patient visit- I was the sent for blood work, bone density & mammogram - next appointment was not a physical but a result. Per Kendra- a physical has to have a pap. Not true. Also, received a bill for the bone density test - I have no trouble -was for a physical - what constitutes a check-up. Not happy at all. Doctor is very nice but policies are ridiculous. It's like they are trying to make money off people.

It is indeed rare to find a doctor like Dr. Tanner St. James. I have never had a doctor spend so much time with me, explain things so well, and do everything she can to make me well.
