Dr. Carolyn Krasner, MD

Very nice person but doesn’t have a lot of patience for patient questions and concerns. The whole team seems stressed, and slow to respond to symptoms. Most of the time when I called or emailed I was told, “That’s chemo,” and no suggestions or solutions, etc. shared. Since it was my first time with chemo, that wasn’t clarifying or comforting. Also, there’s little contact between infusion appointments which is not true everywhere. If you are fine with someone who tells you what to do, doesn’t include you on particulars (and I know that’s ideal for some), this is your doctor. If you want someone who works more collaboratively or is trauma-informed, is on top of complimentary approaches, shares a cell phone or contacts you directly, look elsewhere. All that said, every nurse & staffer in the infusion center was amazing, answered questions, made printouts of info., shared stories and suggestions & was open to discussing complementary or alternative approaches. And you’ll spend… the bulk of your time with them, so if you are ok with standard of care, as is, it might not matter that much. Good luck finding your perfect fit!

Dr Krasner seemed scripted. I called to advocate for pain relief for my mom and instead of helping she asked my.mom why I was calling instead of her...the patient was in pain and this was left untreated.

If you are sitting in front of Dr. Krasner both of you already know it is serious and a big deal - once that's out of the way you can joke and have fun with Carolyn. The disease process does not have to be doom and gloom. She is brilliant, compassionate, efficient, funny, creative, and caring.

Uncaring and not up to date on current treatments

Dr Krasner rushed our appointments and would make false promises about trials she new we would never make. Dr Krasner told my mom stage 3-4 ovarian in remission that after not seeing her for 3 months “ that no need for blood or CT scan , you look too good. My mother being the fool listened knowing about the”trial” she could get into if she stayed in remission , but no the blood or CT scan was never done and it returned a couple of months after that fated mistake .... 5 months later dead . Get send opinions , get 3 opinions and don’t ever pass up you schedule blood because your doctor tells you that “ you look too good”

Dr. Krasner is truly a brilliant gift to medicine, to MGH, to women, and to me. Her quiet demeaner, her compassion, as well as her kind and caring bedside manner are extrordinary....Nurse Marlene Sullivan displays the same amazing professional and compassionate qualities. Thank you, both, for breathing life back into one very sick girl....

I agree with the previous poster - she is very caring. She really listens and she's very easy to talk to. She is an expert on GYN cancers and I can't imagine going anywhere else.

She listens to the patient and thinks before she answers.She is open to discussions.I feel like she has done research on my situation and has several different options.
