Dr. Charles Andrew Salzberg, MD

I had to have my breast implants replaced and have a breast lift. He did an excellent job. I was treated with great care by the Doctor and his staff. I couldn't be happier!

Dr. Salzberg produces a poor patient experience. He leaves patients waiting in the waiting room for hours without having anyone inform them of the length of the remaining wait. He puts out knowingly false advertising about the services provided by himself and those he works with, giving prospective patients unrealistic expectations which wastes time and delays treatment. He lacks concern over progressive medical conditions advancing due to the care he denies and prevails upon those who work under him to deny treatment. What is most troublesome of all is his attempt to make unnecessarily invasive procedures appear to be otherwise, when he creates new scars with his approach which he recasts as not being new when they weren't there before. He is deliberate in changing the appearance of what he does and how he treats patients.

Put two different implants in of different profiles, not what I asked for, was very disappointed, had horrible scarring as well and had to go somewhere else to have it fixed .

I am so happy I was referred to Dr Salzberg. He fixed my botched reconstruction from a previous plastic surgeon and i couldn’t be happier.

Let me start by saying that in my experience Dr. Salzberg does not think the rules of medical practice and ethics apply to him. He allows himself the freedom to cut some corners. I decided to walk out just before my surgery, when I saw he was not going to do what I had asked and we had agreed upon. My surgery was a revision on a medically necessitated previous procedure. Upon telling him I was not going to do HIS surgery as it didn't agree with MY assessment of my situation and what I thought my body and health would benefit from, he assured me he was going to do what I asked. I told Dr. Salzberg specifically I DID NOT CONSENT to anything else. When I woke up I saw in horror that he had violated my consent. His choice of larger and hard prosthetics for me has resulted for a year now in excruciating pain, leading to two biopsies due to inflammation, inability to breath, sleep, stretching of my skin in visible areas, deformity, ridiculously big breasts in the wrong place, as well as an… implant fold since surgery, visible to the untrained eye and knifing my muscle from underneath, which he says he can't see. Needless to say I have not been able to work and socialize in a year. I feel that my entire torso is burned. Dr. Salzberg has not provided any explanation about violating my conditional consent and my patient autonomy, causing me humbling pain, muscle inflammation and my skin coming off between my breasts under the pressure if the large cohesive implants, like I am being skinned alive! He didn't call to see how I was doing any time after surgery nor did he come to see me in the hospital after the procedure. I have visited about 10 plastic surgeons since his surgery, some of NYCs best. His effects are not fixable (only potentially with flap reconstruction and I don't have much flap!), which he knows himself. He referred me to a colleague of his whom at first we didn't know whether my insurance would cover, at which point he stated that his colleague's procedure was going to cost 30K.

at first dr. s was the nicest, although he was extremely touchy-feely with me. altho he made me feel like i had no choice, that i had to get implants after my mastectomies (lie #1). 6 months after, i went back for stage 2 revisions. or so i thought, he looked at my breasts and saw "nothing wrong". i had two completely different shaped breasts, one implant was clearly failing, flattening out and had moved up. the other was huge and square shaped. NOTHING like the picture he showed me at all. not even close. he took zero responsibility for the outcome. in fact, he looked and claimed that he saw no room for improvement. the rest of the office staff would make no eye contact with me or my sister afterwards. i finally convinced him to go back in and try to alter a bit and they placed me inthe room with the camera equipment to wait for the technician to take the pics and see what changes to make. we waited 2.5 hours in there. alone. when she finally came in, she didn't know how to work the… equipment. i ended up getting my records and finding a new surgeon. 3 surgeries later, and 3 years later, i am finally fixed and done. please remember that you have a choice of doctors. and if one makes mistakes and takes no responsibility for them, you can take your records and go somewhere else. don't keep using someone who doesn't listen to you or hear you.

I could not have asked for a better experience than what I had with Drs. Salzberg and Ashikari.They made the whole process of my prophylactic mastectomy seamless, from scheduling pre-op evaluations to surgery to post-op follow ups. And most importantly, I could not be happier with my results. I am almost exactly one year post op now and have zero regrets about this procedure- I am so glad that as a BRCA 1 carrier I no longer have to constantly worry about my breast cancer risk, and my results are absolutely incredible. I could not have asked for anything better and would recommend Dr. Salzberg 100%... If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

When I first went to Dr Salzberg he was great his bedside manner was excellent I was having a double Mesectomy he held my hand when I went into the surgery room after I came out that was it I basically never saw him again except for a few seconds after his PA checked me, and he would come in at the end for 5 seconds I was assigned one PA who worked with me throughout my recuperation you did not get to talk to Dr Salzberg on the phone I called one day and asked to speak to him and he was not available that's fine I asked for a return call he never did.. Obviously I never went back to him shame on you Dr Salzberg you are getting too big for your britches. Stop opening up more offices and start paying attention to your patients.
