Knowing I needed spinal fusion surgery to correct my scoliosis later in life, Dr. Edwards was the first surgeon I visited who gave me hope of a mostly normal life post surgery (other surgeons visited were not as encouraging). You know what? Dr. Edwards was right. I have an active lifestyle now and am SOOOO appreciative of his skill, his professional and compassionate manner. I recommend him to anyone I encounter who may need spinal surgery. He is the best!

Dr. Edwards has saved my quality of life twice. Two fusions in neck, and now, fusion for L4-L5. Totally pain free with acceptable loss of motion.

Dr. Edwards operated on me 14 years ago. The only option I had was spinal’s fusion. Other spine surgeons recommended a much more invasive surgery. Dr. edwards was able to do my surgery with two smaller incisions and use new replacement disk, rods and screws instead of taking bone from somewhere else in my body. He was very kind , gentle, and great at explaining what needed to be done and why. I am doing so much better since my back surgery. I am hiking, swimming, and biking now. Rarely get sciatica. My experience with the Maryland Spine Center was wonderful. This was my first time at Mercy Hospital and I would recommend Mercy to everyone. I had been to various other doctors and pain specialists when a friend suggested Dr. Edwards. The appointment wait time was long but the staff kept me informed of any cancellations and encouraged me to keep calling in. The registration staff at the Maryland Spine Center is very client focused. They also have very good coffee. Dr. Edwards was professional, knowledgeable and not afraid to make suggestions. My mind set was no surgery..... however Dr. Edwards gave me and my daughter all the information we needed to make a decision. I am so glad I had cervical disc replacement surgery 2 weeks later. The recovery room care was excellent. I'm diabetic and the nurses monitored me closely. I always have trouble with post-op anesthesia. There were 3 nurses on the floor that night that almost lived in my room helping me with… this and monitoring my diabetes. The next morning, Dr. Edwards reviewed my care at the bedside. I had a wonderful visit with the OT, ate lunch and went home with no neck pain. My follow up visits with both Michael Prada, P.A. and Dr. Edwards were great.

I was thoroughly pleased with this surgeon. He was highly skilled, professional, and most of all, very compassionate. He is kind, articulate, patient, and made me proud to have had him for my surgeon. I highly recommend him for anyone who has reservations about surgery.

Dr. Charles Edwards II is truly a blessing. When I think of Dr. Edwards I think of Proverbs 17:22 - a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up bones. Dr. Edwards is a gifted, talented, caring person whom God has truly blessed with a wonderful spirit and healing hands. I have interacted with several physicians, but Dr. Edwards just has a spirit like no other. I want to thank him and his wonderful staff for the relief and compassion I have received. After suffering for years with pain that every other Doctor said was just something I was going to have to live with, Dr. Edwards gave me hope of healing and life without pain pills. He performed minor back surgery and I am so much better today!! He prayer with us before surgery, he is so kind, humble and amazing. I will go back to him when I am ready to have the disc in my neck replaced.

I went to Dr Edward's after having 2 months of excruciating pain due to cervical disc herniation and failure of conservative treatment. He introduced me to disc replacement surgery which allowed me to return to work 1 week later at full strenght and I was on skis 3 weeks after surgery. Had I gone to a doctor only familiar with disc fusions, I doubt the outcome would have been as good, nor would my recovery been as swift. I am just a month out so it is impossible to say today where I am long term but optimism abounds. He explained everything, took time to pray with us before the surgery (which was powerful), staff and followup have been excellent!!
