Dr. Charles Hiram Spencer, MD

Dr spencer was my first doctor i started seeing him at shriners hospital in illionis for 3 years before he moved to ohio. He is the best doctor anyone could ask for!

When we 1st met Dr. Spencer, we thought he was an amazing Dr. and wonderful person. And while he is VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE & probably the VERY BEST Dr In Rheumatology ...He has let a lot of his morals and values slide over the last yr. He forgets what medicines/Therapies he puts your child on. He forgets to give you your child's prescriptions, and then he forgets to mail them when he promises to do so. If things don't go EXACTLY as he thinks they should then he becomes very DEFIANT, and gets very rude and mean. He makes you think you are special by giving you his cell phone number, and then when he doesn't like something...he either blasts you via a text or he completely ignores you and your child!! He blames everything that goes wrong on his "OLD AGE"...and that is probably why he was asked to step down as Section Chief Of Rheumatology At NCH!! If you want more than just knowledge for your child...and you want respect or affirmation that you are doing the right things for… child...don't look to get it from Dr. Spencer or his staff!! He** will have to freeze over 1st!! His Office/Desk staff are RUDE, They LIE, they will NEVER go out of their way to make your child feel good about themselves. Dr. Spencer's staff are merely working for a paycheck...not because they care one iota about your child!!! And they do as little as possible to earn that paycheck!! Dr. Spencer is Not on duty as much as they have him OFF DUTY!! I will NEVER refer anyone I love & care about to Nationwide Children's Hospital for ANYTHING!!!! Nasty, Dirty, Hospital...& EXTREMELY RUDE people "Think" they work there!!!

After taking my son to so many doctors who did not know what was wrong with him we saw Dr. Spencer. He was kind, caring, intelligent, patient, had a sense of humor and knew how to diagnose my son. He explained everything to us. He showed us reading materials we could use at home to understand more. He arranged for the testing we needed and is following up with us in two months. What a joy and a priviledge to see such a fine Physician and Scholar.

I had to get my blood drawn frequently and every time he told me, "I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to send you back to the vampires"

Dr. Spencer is an excellent doctor. Dr. Spencer not only talks to you medically but also as a person and a parent. It is scary as a parent to have your child need to be at Childrens Hospital but at least our child have great doctors like Dr. Spencer taking care of them.

Dr spencer is very down to earth you don't get the sense that he feels he is superior to you. You can tell he really does care about kids and family. very layed back sort of guy. He takes the time to make sure you understand what is going on what is happening and what happens with the test is is running. He makes sure you understand the results. we were treated as in patient over a weekend and he was there everyday. i must say i was impressed with this.
