Dr. Charles F Spinazola, PhD

He is capable of doing EEG and/but that only. He made me feel horrible in communication in his halfhearted attempt in CBT. Fortunately, he said he couldn't see me anymore after a few visits. Only try if you need EEG for attention related issues, or just want to learn about anecdotes in this field I guess, I won't recommend a friend to talk or do other psychotherapy with him. He doesn't believe in medication by the way, which is totally fine just might not for everyone.

I received treatment from dr spinazola for depression. I experienced no positive effects from the neurofeedback (though dr spinazola virtually guaranteed me that I would be more or less fully “cured” very soon - making hyperbolic claims which seemed very dubious). While receiving neurofeedback, dr spinazola would half-heartedly attempt to engage in cognitive behavioral therapy. He was a very bad listener, and was quick to give glib and unhelpful advice.

Great results. Very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend. I'm 61. Never to old to improve life.

He has been treating my child with nuerofeedback for 6 months. We are about halfway through the treatment. It is helping with emotional regulation, anxiety, cognitive processing speeds, and self soothing. If you are looking for a nuerofeedback provider in Ann Arbor and/or are looking for alternative therapies to medication, I would recommend Dr. Spinazola. If what you want is a talk therapist or if you want to go a more mainstream route for treatment (i.e. Medication) go elsewhere. Dr. Spinazola is critical of psychiatric treatments that rely too heavily on medication especially for children. He is an absolute believer in neurofeedback combined with the commonsense behavioral changes. He is knowledgeable and experienced in nuerofeedback treatment and will work with you to help get insurance coverage. He is courteous and extremely efficient. What he is not is "touchy-feely". If you need that kind of treatment don't go here. However, I personally have been very satisfied with… his care. His approach is extremely quantitative. For example, the IQ test results we brought in were very helpful for him in planning a course of treatment particular to my child.
