Dr. Charmaine Anne-Marie Carter, MD

I have never in all my years been treated this way by a Doctor. I will be talking more about this situation very soon. Bay Care can and should do much better.

Each time I have a visit with Dr. Carter, she makes me feel like I am her only patient. She walks into the exam room with a smile on her face as though she is truly happy to see me. The wait times in the waiting room are short although she does not seem to rush through my appointment.

New to town. Called United Healthcare for physician accepting new patients. Given her info called for an appointment given date of October 26 at 1030a. However receptionist asked my DOB and immediately said that Dr. Carter does not see patients 70 and older. Referred me to Dr. Nguyen. Called United Healthcare and informed them of what happened and representative was not aware of an age discrimination; nor is that indicated on Dr. Carter's website. Kept me on the line while she verified with Dr. Carter what I had stated. Made appointment for me with another physician that does not discriminate due to a patients age. Would never recommend anyone to go to Dr. Charmaine Carter's office. I Johnson September 21, 2017

Doctor is great! Staff however is rude and it's impossible to get an appointment. I spoke with two different staff to book an appointment, both mumbled their names and when asked to repeat mumbled again. It's a shame the doctor puts up with this from her staff..what does the rudeness of her staff say about her.

She has a wonderful bedside manner, as they say. She listens to me and I feel that she truly cares about me. She inspires me to take better care of myself

I think Dr. Carter is the best physician I have ever encountered. She listens and pays close attention to everything you say. Her office runs very efficiently and the wait times are minimal. Her office staff is very couteous and very prompt. I can always get same day appointments when I am ill. She is by far the best.

My family & I have gone to her since I was little. When I got older, I began to realize the poor tlc and bedside manner the nurses had. I felt overlooked, and mocked since I got ill frequently. Receptionist, told me that since I was stuck in traffic, should couldn't have the physician wait for me. I told them I was only 10 min away, they wouldn't bend for me. Receptionist would always refer me to a walk in clinic, so I stopped giving Dr. Carter my business. My mother and three other family members feel disappointed, disrespected, and overall offered with the treatment, and lack of professionalism throughout the years. I wouldn't refer anyone to this office. Everytime this office referred me to a walk in clinic, thay did me a favor bexcuse I got more respect & they actually gave me solutions and redirection for all my questions and problems.

Staff is rude and uncaring and when you really need help, neither the doctor nor the staff are helpful. I had professionally referred people to her practice in the past and I will not as dealing with her and her office has been horrible. I needed a referral for a prior issue that is in records that she could have ordered from a previous doctor but did not (minor foot issue) and she would not provide the referral without me having to take time off work and come in to see her. I had met with her for an initial session the month before as my insurance changed and I had to get a PCP . Her office was close to my home and I had referred to her in the past so I thought I would see her as well. This was a mistake. I had an issue where I just needed a refill of a medication that I had been on for years with no effects and I had tried to call her office first when I realized this and no one answered the phone( I was told later that although they are open , the office quits answering the phone… a half hour before they leave for the day-they do not tell you this initially). Well since I was unable to get in touch with them, I called my endo. who I had seen for a while and asked her to prescribe this. Well , she told me that I needed to go to PCP so I called Dr. Carters office back and after being told that she would not order the med as she did not prescribe it her office staff told me that I needed to have the endo prescribe it. I am at work trying to get this issue resolved. Oh, then Dr. Carters asst. on the phone tells me that since I can't follow her orders, she is firing me as a patient. ( I have seen her once and asking her to do what my other pcp had no problem doing) (She wants you to come in for an office visit and likely so she can bill you and the insurance for everything. ). I see specialists and always keep my pcp in the loop as I am a strong believer in this. I have my own practice and am POA for my mother so I have less free time than I used to and in fact was having to fly up to bring my mother down here into an assisted living facility her and sign the papers to sell her house as well. This is 1 day from now so I had no time to deal with all this and she was not helpful or understanding about this. I have been in the medical field for 29 years and have never had to deal with anything like this . I strongly recommend that you don't see her a a patient. She is nice when you are in an appointment with her but otherwise she is not helpful. Hope this saves someone else from having to deal with the issues I have had to.

I would never consider another Dr. after her....been with her about 25 years.
