Dr. Cherian Verghese, MD

Dr. Verghese is extremely knowlegeable about cancer treatments and side effects that can occur from those treatments. He is also compassionate and caring all the time. In my humble opinion he sets the gold bar for what an oncologist should be like. He always gets right back to me extremely promptly. whenever I contact him with a problem. I consider myself very lucky to have him for my oncologist.

As a patient of Dr. Verghese for the past year, I cannot say enough good things about him. He is very knowledgeable about my type of cancer and all of the newer treatment modalities. Within moments of calling him (and yes, he gives patients his cell number) he always calls back-and that included a Sunday. His professional knowledge base is incredible. Dr. Verghese pointed out a number of things that were missed by my other physicians. He is extremely compassionate and caring. I read with interest a number of the reviews "bashing" Dr. Verghese. As I re-read a number of those highly negative comments, several factors became apparent to me. In my humble opinion these negative comments were written by the same person. Additionally all of the comments in two of those reviews mentioned this doctors' relationship with his staff, malpractice cases, and death of patients. Additionally the comments written about Dr. Vergheses mental health are obviously written by a staff member who… wanted revenge for some reason (perhaps personal jealousy or a past disagreement?) The negative reviews cited a "felony" conviction of Dr. Verghese which is blatantly untrue. The facts of the case were an argument between family members that was dropped in court (do the research on Sylvania Court Website records search of his name) to see the entire case was dropped. Someone at UTMC had better be careful or they will be in trouble for slander.
