Dr. Chin Oh Kim, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Kim’s for the last 5 years. As well as semi-annual checkups, quarterly blood tests and visits for the occasional illness, Dr Kim has been treating me for my diabetes, micro colitis, thyroid condition and hypertension. He is very good and is able to answer my questions as they arise. He always is concerned with progress and has introduced me new technology to help control and monitor my diabetes without painful and annoying sicks. I am very glad he suggested the Freestyle Libre. It allows me to get numbers and monitor my stats on my cell phone which is great. As for Staff and Office, I have never had any issues. They are always helpful and if are polite if I need to reschedule. The office is modern and clean and look nice (Unlike the 1960’s knotty pine and dusty uncomfortable waiting room of my last doc.) All and all, I give him and the staff high marks on the Internal Medicine / GP side of the house.

I was told repeatedly over the phone that the buprenorphine implant was available through this doctor. That was a lie. Waited an hour to be seen only to be told he no longer offers the implant, then he pushed suboxone on me like every other doctor. I dont have insurance, and having already paid him the $350 I had to choose between setting an appointment up with another doctor and not being able to afford the first payment for an implant (which clearly would have made the appt pointless) or to take the script and ensure I would have something to keep me from using. The choice was obvious. I told him I wanted the lowest blocking dose possible, instead he puts me on 8mg/day. After a week I go back for a check in, and as predicted, he now wants me to take 16 mg/day. I said I would prefer to cut my dose in half instead of doubling it. He wrote a script for 16 mg/day anyway. I don't have insurance, so even if I only take 4 or 8 mg/day i still have to pay the full amount of $780 right now for… my prescription. So now I am left with the options of going through withdrawals, not eating and being unable to pay my cell phone bill for 1.5 weeks, or diverting the additional medication that I never wanted so I can not be sick and go to work and feed myself and my dog. Obviously you know what I'm going to have to do. This doctor clearly does not care about his patients. Why would a doctor who focused on internal medicine all through school and residency move to the heroin capitol of the country and open a suboxone clinic? The answer is simple. He wants to get rich by pushing pills to people he absolutely KNOWS will have to come back for more. What better way to be certain of that than to put his patients on incredibly high dosages so that their withdrawals would be brutal and severe if they attempted to stop seeing him. This practice is all too common and something MUST be done. This is immoral, unethical, and goes against everything the hippocratic oath stands for.

Used to be a good practice, then he got rid of his real nurses, now the receptionists do the blood work, and neither of them is qualified. They will poke you, and make you bleed and feel nauseous. It's a pity, because I really liked the doctor.

ABSOLUTELY WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. TERRIBLE DOCTOR. NO BUSINESS HAVING ANY CONTACT WITH PEOPLE LET ALONE PATIENTS. RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND RATHER FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. I WAS SHAKING WHEN I LEFT AND SICK WITH THE WAY I WAS TREATED. SO UPSETTING
