Dr. Chris Ying Fan, MD

BEST Endocrinologist ever!! Given the specifics of my circumstance, this man was unbelievable..

I contacted him as I had a rapid weight gain hand and legs swelled. He emailed me back informing me I might be in heart failure to call my pcp.never called or suggested I come in completely ignored me. He never looked or touched me at the one appt I did have. Condesending. He spoke more to the resident. End of the story I ended up at another hospital in acute kidney failure.

Arrogant is a good word to describe him. Used medical terminology so much I had to tell him I didn't know what he was talking about. He seemed uninterested. Almost annoyed with me. No bedside manner. No compassion. Did not impress me with his knowledge of treating hypothyroidism. In fact, I'm not sure what he knows about treating anything because I really couldn't follow him. The young medical student in the room was sweet and concerned. That was nice. I left feeling frustrated and with no real treatment plan. Waste of time!

I was doctoring with my family dr. he took care of my diabetes for 10 years my sugar was always high I kept telling dr about it but blew me off ,had ultra sound of liver kidneys and pancreas but be cause of gas was told nothing was wrong by dr. I went todr fan had sent records ahead plus test results, the first thing he described my problem and ordered test to confirm it was hyper thyroid glads took 24 hr urine test to confirm then I was set up right awawy to see dietion she but me and wife a carb diet since that day my sugars hane been 100 or lower amazing I trusted my fan mily dr to take care of me , now thanks to dr.fan he is going to be my dr.now, we chated a little put he left me do some talking then he talked he is very precise on all we talked about glad I him on line

I transferred my Endocrinology care from Johns Hopkins to Dr. Fan at Hershey Medical. I am very glad I did. I find everything about Dr. Fan and the staff the polar opposite of my experience at Hopkins. Sure there is the occasional wait but nothing like the consistent 1.5 to 2 hour waits at Hopkins. Or the constant appointment cancellations I experienced at Hopkins. Dr. Fan has been attentive and engaging and I appreciate his professional manner. I came to him looking for health care not to socialize and that is what I have gotten. I have received enough personalization in the care Dr. Fan has provided to leave me confident in his abilities and the experience that my input is both solicited and and considered in treatment planning.

Most memorable: arrogance!. Did not want to hear about how I was feeling. My questions were made to seem irrelevant or stupid. He rarely looked at me, but instead sat at a desk reading my file. I saw him 3 times over the course of 2 years for thyroid cancer. He would only see me once a year for follow-up. On one of those visits, which had been a year since my last visit, he did not even physically exam my neck. Terrible doctor. I do not know why he chose this profession.

I appreciated the fact that Dr. Fan was prepared for my visit. Didn't waste my time asking "why are you here", but knew why and was ready to rule out possibilities until he knew what the problem was. His follow up has been bar-none and he has been wonderful to work with as we find a dosage of medication that will work for my diagnosis. I would recommend Dr. Fan to anyone looking for an endocrinologist.

Dr. Fan was quite condesending and arrogant. I waited 4 months for an appointment, and he dismissed each of my questions/concerns with a very curt, negative response.

He has a terrible bedside manner. Very arrogant.
