Did not listen to overall symptoms and treated a partial symptom without understanding the larger overall picture. Procedure done was not adequately initially discussed in terms of what could be really wrong and other avenues of possible treatment. Much too black and white of a discussion and given way too limited information. Consequently procedure done only prolonged the agony and made things that were very painful even worse. Always get a second or third opinion, and possibly involve gastroenterology and neurology and if you are female, a pelvic floor specialist, and also a person very well-versed in dietary concerns if you are having problems in the stomach/rectal/anal area that are not well-defined and you are not well enough to have a colonoscopy. Wish I would have known that up front. Symptoms can be tricky so a collaborative team approach between these disciplines would work to the patient's best advantage in this area. Each specialty can be way too specialized and narrow in scope--and consequently make the patient suffer much too needlessly in order to find a better up front solution. Also having a caring patient-centered specialist is very important, not just a clinician.

Not enough information communicated to patient about pitfalls of the procedure. Poor coordination with staff. Bad outcome. No good followup before or after procedure or after outcome. Not very compassionate.
UCI psychiatric dept. has always been caring, I do get conflicting information from staff

I usually end up speaking with the supervisor to make sure my insurance is taken at UCI, I have switched insurance companies three times and now on Medicare. I like the fact that my pharmacy can fax them to get clearance on another prescription. I just wish Sam's Club Pharmacy would tell me when they weren't getting an answer to the faxes so I didn't waste my time going down there and the prescription not being available.
