Dr. Christine J. Ren-Fielding, MD

I'm sad to have to give this individual even one star. There are supposedly all kinds of tests done before bariatric surgery. I went through all of them. At that point I had an extremely enlarged liver and abnormal blood results due to as yet undiagnosed cancer. Any competent or caring doctor would have read the test results and sent me to an oncologist immediately. Dr. Ren instead joked about my enlarged liver and performed the surgery as scheduled. She almost killed me, but I was told I could not take action since I survived. I suffer every single day since this atrocious surgery but other doctors are hesitant to perform corrective surgery because of the circumstances. If you value your life and wellbeing I strongly suggest doing your own research before allowing this person anywhere near your body. I am grateful that others have spoken up here. It took me along time to even feel strong enough to post this, I'm still so traumatized by what this so called medical professional did to… me.

Dr. Ren is a skilled surgeon, no doubt. This practice, however, has become virtually impossible to navigate: more than 2 months to get an appointment with Dr. Ren, and having made an appointment with another doctor in the practice, was kept in a closed examination room for more than 45 minutes with no explanation regarding the doctor's failure to see me. I'll be looking for a different NYC bariatric surgery practice that is more patient-centric and responsive than this one.

I was overweight... Yes, but i was better off with the weight then i am now after the BPD surgery. For 2 1/2 years I was great, then the result of the surgery showed its ugly truth. I have been sick and in constant pain for years. The one thing that really upsets me more than anything is Dr. REN lied to me! She told me all I would have to do is take extra vitamins and a special vitamin called ADEK's and I would be fine. That was not the truth and is not the case!!! A Dr. That would lie to someone about a surgery is only interested in one thing... And it is not the care and well being of her patients. I know of at least one other person that has shared with me that this Dr. Told her the same thing and she has been suffering for years also. Please don't have this surgery especially with a Dr. That would lie yo you. You will be sorry and no one will be able to help you. I know... I have been to many many Dr's trying to get help...some things they can help like iron deficiency. But Vitamin… D forget it. Also many other nutrients that you simply will not be able to absorb... No matter how much you take!!! Shame on this medical facility for allowing this to go on. Dropped my insurance just after my surgery, they were hard to get on the phone... Never followed up on their patients..Got Paid and just didn't care.

dok.Ren thank you for your help, saved my life, my lab-bend burst and for a period of 3 months from the mmnie went ...... wonders why only one thing for the three months and I was with her for 3 visits because I felt that something is wrong and no one noticed that my lab-bend is cracked, I almost lost my life, but the doc. Ren saved it to me and I am grateful for her.

Thanks to Dr Ren and the incredible staff at NYU. I have lost over 100 pounds and still going strong. Dr Ren held my hand through out and was so patient with all my questions. The band only works if you work with it and she showed me how to do it. She is incredible and her staff is amazing.

My experience with Dr Ren was amazing throughout. I was fully briefed before hand. Dr Ren spent over an hour with me discussing the surgery and educating me on what to expect. Afterwards she was available for all my questions. When I had suspected complications that turned out to be unrelated she was readily available and diagnosed what is was right away. Thanks to her the experience has been seamless and successful.. .

Dr Ren is a life saver. I have spent years battling with my weight, and was very scared to have surgery. She patiently helped me come to the right decision and has been approachable and there every step of the way.

I saw her several years ago, her office staff is full of incompetent bimbos, as is her nutritionist & herself. I had my lap band removed, they have you in an assembly line pushing you through without actually "educating" you about it. I am actually glad I see others hate her too, I hope she does lose her license.

Horrible. I went to go get my lap band removed. I had my schedule for 9:15 am on monday. My paper said urgent and i have waited for more than 8 hours. Not only has she not came in to speak to me, she is failing to give me any response as to when i will be seen. I was told that i had my schedule for my removal in the morning and i am now an add on. Its ridiculous that i was not able to eat or drink anything since 12 last night and now i have went without food or water in my system. I dont think anyone would like to go that long without anything. Just plain and simple. She is un organized. Hard to male appointments with and doesnt care for her patients. I would not recommend being seen by her because you will feel the same way i am. I have had my patient at ease till now.
