Dr. Christine Anne Patte, DO

I am a retired PA with many years of experience. I was recently evaluated by Dr Christine Patte DO. I was diagnosed with influenza. I was completely satisfied with the professionalism, timeliness, and care that I received from all the employees that I encountered within the ER, except for my encounter with Dr Patte. She did not appear to be listening to my chief complaint. I was asked the same questions several times and her history/physical examination skills were substandard. Further, she refused to refill my prescription for my albuterol inhaler which was alleviating my symptoms of cough due to exacerbation of my underlying asthma. I had to explain to her several times that I have had reactive airway disease (asthma) for many years, worsened by the cold, sickness, and exercise. I explained to her that I had an albuterol inhaler but it was running out, as I had been using my inhaler at home to treat my cough exacerbated by my current influenza symptoms. I used two puffs of my inhaler… prior to my arrival in the ER. She listened to my chest in two places, said I sounded fine (as I'd recently used my inhaler), and refused to refill my inhaler or offer me any other supportive treatments, such as IV fluids for the dehydration I was experiencing due to high fever and sweats. I understand that the treatment for influenza is supportive care, but I felt that I received none under her care. Respiratory diseases are a trigger for asthma and Dr Patte failed to treat me supportively by refusing to refill my inhaler. I required more co-pays to visit my Primary Care Provider to renew my inhaler and suffered in the interim.
