Dr. Christopher James Allphin, MD

Dr Allphin cut my ureter during surgery but didn’t know it. A few days following I contacted him because I had urine flowing out. He told me he that it was because my bladder was bruised. I let him know that my bladder never even got the urge to go. That I had a fistula. He sent me to our local emergency room who checked me and agreed the urine wasn’t coming from my bladder. He had me come up to the hospital to do an emergency surgery. When I awoke he told us the Dr from the local hospital didn’t know what she was talking about and he questioned her skills as a Dr. He told me he had filled my bladder and watched it for 40 minutes and it did not leak. I cried because I knew that if he had found nothing, he had fixed nothing. Sure enough the incontinence continued. I went to my local physician in despair and my local physician told me what he believed, that Dr Allphin had cut my ureter not my bladder which was higher up. All this time I was dealing UTI’s and infection and had… even became septic. He sent me back to EiRMC to have a cat scan and confirm the diagnosis. Dr Allphin met me there and apologized. He told me that he’d never even heard of that happening before but since it was the number one reason for malpractice suits related to his profession I’m not sure I believed him. He asked us not to tell the staff there what had happed as to avoid rumors. It was even written on my chart that I was there to have a kidney stone removal instead of putting a stint in to allow my ureter to heal together as I only had a 60% success rate at this point as time went by. As far as nice. Yes he was very nice. I didn’t think It was fair that I had to pay for the 2 follow up surgeries to repair the damage he did. I don’t think it’s fair that the scar tissue in my ureters make it very difficult and narrow to pass kidney stones through. Overall, I had a horrible experience.

Dr Allphin is amazing. He listens to your questions and always gives 100%. If you need an OB he is the guy to see!

I have gone thru 3 pregnancies all have been high risk he was on top of it all even through tough parts he is caring and understanding i will choose him first every time for any appointments or concerns

I can’t reccommend Dr. Allphin enough! He and his staff are incredible and I trust them completely! I always feel like they listen and I’m never rushed! I can’t say enough great things!

We moved here from Illinois 3 years ago and I haven't had much luck with good competent doctors. Dr. Allphin renewed my confidence that there really are good doctors in IF. I guess they are just far and few between.

Dr. Allphin performed my Laproscopic hysterectomy. My recovery was fast and without complications. I had very minimal pain/discomfort. He is a gifted surgeon!

The time and effort that Dr. Allphin puts into his work defiantly shows. I haven't met very many doctors that I would recommend any of my friends and family seeing, but Dr. Allphin is certainly one of them!
