Dr. Christopher Griffith Wood, MD

A local Austin urologist was going to do a robotic partial nephrectomy but dr wood, who has done hundreds of these operations, said the tumor was very deep in the kidney and it would need extensive reconstruction so recommended an open hands-on partial nephrectomy. He did an excellent job and saved my kidney and I am firmly convinced the local guy with much less experience would have ended up having to take the whole kidney as you can’t keep a kidney cut off from blood for very long. This is where having a doctor with 29 years of experience in surgery and who does cutting edge research for the best cancer center in the country makes going to MD Anderson a no-brainer. Check out his publications on the Mda website. He is the gold standard in kidney Surgery. Nurses are incredible there. Tou getvan hour long consult with the dr doing anaesthesia. MD Anderson is a class act!
