Dr. Christopher L Hamill, MD

Dr. Hamill has absolutely no idea how to speak to patients—especially young ones. His answers were short, curt, and at times cutting. We spent roughly 90 seconds with him, and in that brief encounter he managed to leave my healthy sixteen-year-old son feeling like his body was permanently broken. My son developed some bulging discs from rowing crew. He is a strong, athletic kid who has even been scouted by colleges for rowing. Yet after this appointment, he walked out of the office with zero confidence in his body’s ability to heal. Rather than offering guidance, reassurance, or even basic empathy, Dr. Hamill delivered blunt statements with no context and no compassion. There was no acknowledgement that he was speaking to a teenager whose identity and future are deeply connected to his sport. The emotional impact of his words seemed completely irrelevant to him. The lack of humanity toward a young patient was staggering. It felt like a complete miscarriage of care. Dr. Hamill may… be technically skilled as a spine doctor, but in my experience he should not be working with children or adolescents. I will never allow him to be in the same room as my son again. Ironically, I learned far more useful and informative information from ChatGPT afterward than from the 90 seconds he spent telling us my son wouldn’t recover. I plan to share this experience widely because families deserve physicians who treat young patients with both expertise and humanity.

I have have had several complicated spinal surgeries by Dr Hamill with good results. With my back the way it is, I wouldn't put its care under anyone else. His entire staff is also top notch.

I put off surgery for 40 years. Yes I was in pain. When I got to the point that I could not walk more then 20 steps and could not ride my horse I looked for a surgeon. I am very excited with the results! After a few rods, several screws and months of waiting I was, with his approval, able to start riding my horse. So many people were amazed that he allowed me to do that. It has been a full two years and I am still improving with every day. My suggestion is to not rush it. I was told it would take a year to heal but it took a full two years. Don't give up! At 66 and being able to do what I do I am looking to retirement! Thank You Dr. Hamill!
