Dr. Christopher Jean Chen, MD

Dr Christopher J Chen performed my left hip surgery (correcting bone on bone) in 2017, and this year did my right hip. Both were anterior procedures. His style is clear, direct and confident; he's busy and there's not a lot of discussion, but that fits me fine. I think the highest praise I can relay is how he is viewed and respected by the hospital staff who see him in action on a frequent basis. He's extremely well regarded ("the best") by nursing, PT, etc. Dr Chen is excellent and I'm pain free and happily exercising. His office team is also great.

Dr. Chen did a fabulous job on my arthritic hip. I was out of the hospital within a day, walked down 20 steps to my house and had very little pain. My recovery was rapid and my life has improved so much. I wish I'd done this a few years earlier. He was not only an excellent surgeon, but set up a responsive support system with a Nurse Navigator and phone app that was really helpful post op. I recommend him without reservation.

After 11 years of active use my previous total hip replacement (posterior approach) by another doctor I needed a revision. Dr Chen and his staff were professional throughout the time frame that included 6 weeks of preop physical therapy, the actual surgery and 6 weeks of post operative physical therapy. With the posterior revision I was able to use full weight bearing as soon as I felt comfortable. I used a walker for a day after I got home, a cane for 2 weeks and was able to walk my favorite Lake Merritt six weeks to the day after surgery. I am very pleased with my care, my lack of pain, and my accomplishment!! I would highly recommend Dr Chen.

I was having pain in my left hip and could barely walk and get around.Dr. Chen performed the non invasive hip replacement on my left hip just 2 weeks ago. I have been pain free since the surgery and am walking around with an aid of a cane. Dr. Chen is an excellent surgeon who is sensitive to his patients needs. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is having problems with their hips and is considering hip replacement. I can't thank Dr. Chen enough for a job well done. He has given me a much improved quality of life.

Dr. Christopher Chen is a truly amazing and skilled surgeon! He is a total joint specialist and does the anterior approach for the total hip. After he did my hip, I was up and about in no time. It's been 3 months since my surgery and I am hiking, walking, and loving life!
