Dr. Christopher J Sperati has the following 2 specialties
- Internal Medicine
An internist is a physician who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the adult population—both acute and chronic.
These doctors are often who adults see as their primary physicians because they treat a broad range of illnesses that do not require surgical or specialist interventions. They also work to help a patient maintain optimal health in order to prevent the onset of disease.
In addition to treating the common cold and flu, internists also treat chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
A nephrologist is a physician who is specially trained to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the kidneys or renal system.
A nephrologist will determine through urine analysis, blood test, X-ray, sonogram, or kidney biopsy how well the kidneys are functioning and will then prescribe a special diet and exercise program, medication or dialysis - a process by which a machine filters the blood when the kidney is no longer capable of doing so.

Though I have an array of healthcare issues being managed by different doctors, Dr. Sperati gets the award for being the doctor that I am most confident in. DR. SPERATI IS EXTREMELY THOROUGH, PROMPT AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. I was referred to him when a family member who practices in the same hospital received good recommendations for him. I had been experiencing protenuria since young adulthood and had seen so many doctors but not one could give me an answer as to what was going on. Prior to seeing him, i was given a general generic diagnosis by the last doctor I had seen who did not do any testing to confirm his diagnosis. During the first visit, Dr. Sperati obtained all the necessary information and suggested a kidney biopsy to be sure of my diagnosis. Turns out I had a rare kidney disease. Dr. Sperati has managed my care since 2009 and even though I moved out of state, he continues to make himself available to me through e mail and continues to follow and manage not only my kidneys but my other conditions that need to be monitored. That's how awesome he is! The most outstanding quality that Dr. Sperati possesses is that he is very PROMPT and PROFESSIONAL! Dr. Sperati has never neglected to respond to my e mails in less than 24 hours. Even when he was out of the country! Dr. Sperati's bedside manner is also impeccable. Being a female, it is often intimidating having a male doctor. Dr. Sperati made me feel comfortable and easily, patiently answered all my questions even when i was all over the place with my thought process. DR. SPERATI COMES EXTREMELY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! You may not be able to get an appointment with him right away because he is in high demand but if you can wait a little, it is worth the wait. Thanks Dr. Sperati. I cannot tell you how much of a difference you have made in my life. p.s. Dr. Sperati is also very neat in appearance and looks very smart.
Why am I in love with Dr. Sperati??? Because, he is the ABSOLUTE best doctor (excluding my two doctors in NC) that has treated me since my recent diagnosis of kidney disease. His bedside manner reminds me of the top-notch care I received while in NC. Dr. Sperati is prompt and extremely thorough. I gladly drive over an hour just to see him. He explains the prognosis and treatment plan in plain English, without all of the medical jargon. He has made my experience a more bearable one. Kudos!
