Everything on-time, consultation was amazing as professional and future plans straight forward to fix my problem, very recommended. The best neurosurgeon!!!

Dr Winfree has the most callous attitude toward patients that I’ve ever seen. He does not answer any of your questions and does not explain any medical information. During our appointment he wasn’t even familiar with the report from a test that he had ordered and was asking us about what the results said. I just don’t understand why people work in the medical field when they clearly have no interest in helping people with their health issues.

Rude, condescending, unprofessional, uncaring, dismissive, disrespectful... Winfree never took the time to even examine me. He never reviewed my medical records and outside imaging that I brought along to the appointment. He refused to listen to my complaints of severe pain and debilitating nerve injury. He’s was the most disappointing doctor I have ever met. Don’t go here!

After reading some of the negative patient reviews regarding Dr. Winfree, I was hesitant in making an out- of - state appointment. Contrary to the reviews I read, I found Dr. Winfree to be an excellent Physician. His bedside manner is that of a professional with your best interest at heart. His direct approach to my care was not only refreshing, but he offered hope where other doctors have not. Subsequent to my appointment, I had gone through the medical mill, seen more doctors then I care to admit. None of them displayed the care and concern he and his team have shown for my condition. Not only did he take the time to listen / hear me , he explained in detail the protocols to address this particular nerve damage or condition. He also prescribed an MRI, which specifically targets the nerve in question. I have been on this journey for three years, visited top healthcare professionals, and he is the first to mention this specific MRI. Had I payed attention to the negative reviews, I… would have missed the opportunity to see the one doctor that understood my condition and offered any hope. I urge everyone reading this...take the negative reviews with a grain of salt...as it just may change your life!

There are lots of negative reviews about Dr. Winfree regarding His bed side manner. Well I almost cancelled My appointment because I was nervous about seeing Him, but since I was dealing with a situation that numerous other Dr could not diagnose I decided to follow through. Well I don't know what these other people are talking about!! Dr. Winfree was one of the nicest Dr I have every seen. Not only that He knows His stuff and gave Me a diagnoses explained everything to Me in detail answered My questions and even offered to heat up My coffee while we were talking. All I can say is please make your own judgments. Also must say His staff was excellent as well.

WAs hospitalized while in NYC @ Columbia-Cornell Hospital, while visiting relatives. Doc W must have been on call and that is how I became his patient. I have systemic reflex sympathetic Dystrophy with dystonia. Doc W did a surgery and put in a spinal cord stimulator. The dystonia was really bad,so they had me very medicated to calm my body down. When i finally remember meeting him, it was at his office. He was very nice. I think what people take as arrogance, is actually his confidence. Don't know about y'all, however I WANT a confident Dr. ,especially when they are operating on the spine and brain! Dr W explained everything in detail to me, even though he knew I was not going to see him again. He took his time, and was really great. Even said if I needed anything while i was recooping at my cousin's, to just give his office a call. I would say he was over and beyond caring and helpful. Hope people understand that a confident neuro surgeon is a GOOOOD quality and something you… should want. Thanks Dr Winfree! Though it has been several years, will never forget you and all your help!

I was initially very concerned seeing Dr Winfree after reading reviews and I must say never believe all reviews. I found the staff to be very knowledgeable and extremely helpful from the first phone call. Dr Winfree was very knowledgeable on my condition and took the time to listen to me and answer all questions I had , Dr Winfree gave me a treatment plan and explained it so I understood. I have seen 100s of Drs for my condition and I do understand why some say comments about Dr Wnfree's "bedside manner" I found he is a doctor who is straight to the point answer the questions he is asking there is a reason he is the doctor and we are the patient he is not going to hug you but will shake your hand . I traveled 2.5 hrs to see Dr Winfree and I would travel that again. Many doctors gave me no hope for repair to my injury Dr Winfree has given me hope . I normally dont write reviews on doctors but needed to as Dr Winfree reviews are false in my opinion and like I said if you answer the… questions he is asking ask the questions you have there is no issues I have 0 complaints about Dr Winfree and his staff .

Winfree failed me in every way. After nearly a 90 min wait, he never even examined me. He failed to consider any of my complaints about long-standing excruciating pain and loss of sensation and dysfunction. His bedside manner is a zero. He looks down on patients - literally. His diagnosis was 100% wrong. He is the only provider I've seen who has stated I do not have a nerve injury. He even ignored MRI and EMG findings which confirmed my clinical presentation. He clearly wants to pick and choose his patients. He casts the most difficult cases, the most pathetic and severely pained patients, to the street like pieces of trash. I would NOT recommend Winfree to my worst enemy. He is mean and cruel. Did not spend more than 5 min w me. Never reviewed my history or meds, recent testing or symptoms. Columbia should be ashamed that someone like this represents their institution.
