Dr. Christopher Michael Mccarthy, MD

I went to see Dr. McCarthy for a wrist problem. I had an appointment booked for 1:00 PM and showed up at 12:50 to respect the doctors time as I would have expected from him. A few days before his staff sent over paperwork to complete before getting to my appointment which I completed. Upon arrival at his office which was beautiful, clean and empty; his staff instructed me that the paperwork I had already filled out needed to be entered into a computer kiosk. I asked why would I re-complete paperwork I have already done? They told me its a new system they are trying. None the less I obliged. 1:10 rolled around and I asked the front desk lady when they expected to see me and she told me my appointment was at 1:30. I showed them my confirmation message that my appointment was at 1:00 and they said there must be a 'system issue'. About 10 minutes went by and they told me that the doctor would be 20-30 minutes late if I wanted to wait or we could reschedule. I said fine I will wait, but I… am not happy. About 20 more minutes went by and they told me he hadn't finished up with his surgery at another hospital and if I wanted to continue to wait it would be another 15-20 minutes. About 40 minutes from that time the nurse asked if I wanted to go back to a room and get the X-Ray's completed so when he arrived he could review them. I said sure and got 3 total X-rays done on my wrist. While waiting, his staff told me that they would make sure this visit wasn't a cost to me, and they were sorry for my inconvenience. They seemed pretty upset with his scheduling actions. He shows up about 1 hour and 50 minutes from when the time my appointment was supposed to start, gives a hap hazard apology spends 2-3 minutes looking at my wrist and telling me its a sprain it will heel in 6-8 weeks with a soft cast that I can get at CVS. After telling me this he instructs me I should schedule a follow up appointment to make sure it heeled properly. After all that was said and done I get my bill in the mail. Surprise, surprise, $400.00 for 3.5 minutes and 3 X-rays. I said I am happy to pay for the X-rays ($100.00) but why would I pay for disrespect and 3 minutes as becoming a new patient. So I called the office to get to the bottom of this. The lady on the phone lied to me and told me they had to talk to billing to see what they could do and that they understand and would help. Then Another staff member calls me and tells me that he completed that work and that's what he makes, I would have to deal with it. All in all the worst medical experience I have had in my whole life. I wouldn't recommend him, his staff, to anyone. Steer clear from this practice and Dr. Chris McCarthy.
