Dr. Colm J. O'loughlin

I had a colonoscopy with Dr. O'Loughlin, I can say he is Very patient to listen at your medical history, very informative, and professional with his job done.

In my first visit with this doctor, I told him my last prep with a different doctor wasn't complete so the scope could not be completed. He didn't ask what my "habits" were, he just said to take miralax twice a day before starting the prep. Well, this scope was no better than the last one. I told him I didn't want to go through the prep again. He suggested getting a Cologuard "DNA" test. I did and it was positive. Another GI specialist told me those test were highly sensitive and there are many false positives. His next suggestion was a barium enema with air. I understand they are very uncomfortable in that you are awake and they insert a bulb, and expand it to keep the solution from coming out. Then you have to move all around for 20 minutes to coat everything for them to take xrays. The prep is the same as for the scope, so why would anyone "prefer" the enema when they can be asleep for the scope. He must think I am dumb. When I tried to switch to another doctor in a different office… but in the same network he refused to release me and the other doctor refused to see me. I guess neither doctor is concerned about the welfare of the patient, just covering for each other.

I'd give the doctor nothing but 5 stars and recommend to others

Does procedure without explaining anything.

Very disappointed with his care. He completed a colonoscopy for me while my GI was out of town- big mistake. Before the procedure, he questioned why I was there, implying that neither I, nor my regular GI and GI PA, had given my GFD long enough to treat my celiac disease. He immediately assumed that I was not adhering to a strict GFD (which has already been confirmed by a nutritionist I was sent to). Following the procedure, he told me they found some unusual things for someone my age, but offered no explanation. His parting words were for me to try to stick to the GFD and take a probiotic daily. A probiotic???? I've been taking them for 5 years daily and been strict GF since my diagnosis 10 months ago. His arrogance and lack of sympathy will stick with me for a long time.

Poor communicator, did procedure on me that should NOT have been done per professor at Medical College (no symptoms to justify procedure), blew a hole in me through 2 organs, put me in bed over 2 years in constant pain, told by a doctor in 2009 that I had been expected to die as a result of O'Loughlin's error, now daily life long problems because of mistake.

My appt. was for 10a. I arrived 10m early. I was taken to the exam room where I waited to see the Doctor. 30m later he still had not entered the room. This is no refelection on him or his bedside manner. Except it gave me a chance to access this website and perform a preliminary research of the physician I was about to meet. I decided to leave. First impression: Dr. O'Loughlin : none never met him Communication: none. Never got to speak to him Time spent: none. Still waiting Bedside manner: can't say Well Educated: perhaps Still interested in learning about my digestive health. Maybe I'll be back

He blew an internal hole in me. Didn't know what he was doing!!!!

I would recommend Dr. O'Loughlin to any sick person with the feeling that they would get the professional, caring, concerned relationship that I have have with this doctor. A very knowledgable, trustworthy medical practitioner.

Dr. O'Loughlin is great. His staff is knowledgeable and prompt. His diagnosis was accurate.
