Craig R. Hampton, MD, FACS, is board certified in general and cardiothoracic surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Dr. Hampton has published numerous related topics including stentless aortic valve replacement and mitral valve repair. After finishing medical school at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Dr. Hampton performed residencies in general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and served as chief surgical resident at the University of Washington in Seattle. He also earned an NIH-funded research fellowship in cardiovascular surgery. Prior to joining St. Joseph Cardiothoracic Surgeons in 2010, Dr. Hampton practiced cardiac surgery at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota. Dr. Hampton is interested in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery including aortic root pathology, aortic surgery, arrhythmia surgery, coronary surgery, and valve repairs …and replacements.

Doctor Hampton is a superb surgeon and doctor. He may have a few equals in this country as far as his profession, but there are none better. He works with a team that is equally outstanding. They are great communicators. Dr. Hampton was clear with me about the actual procedure, what to expect while in the hospital, and follow up. He would visit twice a day while I was hospitalized. During Covid, since my wife was not allowed in the hospital, his staff maintained daily contact with her advising her of all my progress and needs. What an asset to medicine!

Had an aortic valve replacement. Pre-op visits were very enlightening. Dr. Hampton went over the entire surgery and what to expect afterwards. Very confident. I would tell anyone looking for a surgeon to look into him. Additionally, the nurses and office staff are tremendous.
