Dr. Craig Leroy Hurst, MD

I honestly have genuine concerns about Dr. Hurst's ability to assess and treat gynecological issues. I've heard he's a great OB, but when I went in for a myoma tumor and lower-abdominal pain, he was not helpful, and had I stayed with him, I would have gotten much worse. I was on a service mission in Ukraine when I started having what I thought was just painful ovulation, but when I went in for an ultrasound, they found a myoma tumor. I came home and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hurst, as I'd never been to an OB/GYN before, and my sisters loved him when he delivered their babies. When I went in, he asked me a few questions, told me it couldn't be endometriosis because my periods were normal, and told me to set up an appointment at the hospital for an ultrasound. A few days after my ultrasound, Dr. Hurst's assistant called to say that my results looked fine, and was surprised when I asked to come in to see him again. At my next appointment, the first thing Dr. Hurst said was,… "So, the pain didn't go away when you heard the results of the ultrasound?" I know that sounds like he was joking, but through the course of our conversation, I realized he thought I was having psychosomatic symptoms as an excuse to come home from my mission early. He didn't do any other tests, but prescribed birth control for three months just to see how I did. After about 6 weeks on the birth control, the pain was worse than ever, and I knew I couldn't wait another 6 weeks. I did NOT want to go back to Dr. Hurst, so I researched other OB/GYNs in the area, and found a fantastic one. During my first appointment with the new doctor, he did the ultrasound himself, and the first thing he said was, "See the thickening of the uterine wall? That's most likely an indication of endometriosis," which was exactly what Dr. Hurst said it couldn't be. He also found the myoma tumor the tech at the hospital apparently didn't find. Based on those two findings and the level of pain I was in, I was scheduled for surgery within the week. During the surgery, they found both the myoma and endometriosis, as well as cysts on my ovaries and polyps in my fallopian tubes. I've always wanted to take those results back to Dr. Hurst to show him what his lack of concern caused him to miss. He may still be great at delivering babies, but don't call yourself an OB/GYN if you're not willing to actually address the Gynecologist half of your title.

Dr. Hurst delivered my first child after my regular OBGYN had gone out of town. 41+ weeks I had my first appt. scheduled with him on a Monday afternoon. My daughter was delivered at 3 am on that same Monday. Even without meeting with him prior to delivery his personality and professionalism made me feel comfortable. I was very happy that he ended up delivering my first child.

Dr. Hurst was a God-send. After a bad experience with my first doctor, a friend recommended Dr. Hurst. Although I live in Cache Valley, I made the drive for every appointment because it was so worth it. His office staff was prompt, I never waited longer than 5 minutes, and everyone was so nice. I had several complications that any other doctor would have pushed for surgery, but because he knew I wanted to deliver naturally, he worked with me and my doula. He stayed with me in the hospital as I pushed for over an hour, and before that he checked on me regularly just to see how I was doing. I had NO tearing because he was so careful and worked with me instead of trying to force my delivery to his schedule. I felt totally comfortable with him through out the whole pregnancy, and he even answered my phone call after hours when I panicked and was spotting... and then personally called me back the next day to see how I was doing. I don't plan on having any more children, but if I do, I know… exactly who I will be using. I absolutely love Dr. Hurst!

He has been able to help me deal with my pre term labor I have had with several of my children. I trust him.

I really do think Dr. Hurst and staff are nice - But honestly I feel there is a huge lack of taking the time with patients and seeing if there are any questions. and if a question is asked it's blown off and not takend seriously or answered so quick. I think I would go with a woman doctor - I had first 2 kids with a woman - moved had last 2 with Dr. Hurst and should have switched back to a woman after 3rd. I don't know I think over all disappointed and hoped for more with him. I'm done having kids now but I think I'm going to go back to a woman gynecologist.

I love this Doctor he is the best. I had all my children with him never want anyone else.

I have gone to Dr. Hurst for 20 years and would not go to anyone else. When I had my tubes ties, Dr Hurst knew I was by myself. When I woke up in recovery, it was Dr Hurst setting by my side. The stories could go on and on about his compassion. My daughter now goes to him. Wonderful man. I trust him like no other.

When I had my c-section he did not follow up with good after care. I had pain that was not normal ( I new it was not normal because I had, c-sections before)he left me in pain for over 3 months found another dr and he found a blod clot and infection; that because it was there for so long that even after treatment I am still recovering from pain till this very day. my neighbor had a problem with that office as well with follow up care they get paid and stop caring!

I would refer all of my friends to him!! I was flying back from AZ to see him! His staff is great!
