Wow. So much to say. Dr. Brotea is truly an amazing person as a doctor and as an overall person. I thank God for allowing our paths to cross. The level of care is out standing and his bed side manner is the best. Every Visit is always a great one. Stay Awesome Dr. Brotea????

We were blessed when Dr Brotea was the on call surgeon in the ER after my husband’s accident. Without getting into all the details, Dr Brotea made a traumatic and tragic event bearable with his kindness, compassion, intelligence, and stellar surgical skills. We still see him for visits and he spends as much time as we need. He has been extremely helpful with my husband’s recovery. That day in the ER, everything he predicted would happen post op has pretty much happened. It may not be what we wanted to hear, but at least we knew what the near future was going to hold. We’re forever grateful to him for his care.

Saw Dr Brotea with back pain and difficulty walking and numbness in hands. Consultation revealed symptoms stemmed from herniated discs in neck. Condition deteriorated to the point where i could not walk without a walker and gait was severely impaired. Pain in chest was severe and was rushed to emergency room.. Dr. Brotea was immediately in contact with me and scheduled emergency surgery. He worked miracles and without his immediate intervention and surgical skill, I could have been permanently paralyzed. He is caring, compassionate, hands-on and thoroughly explains everything. Hope I don't need any further surgery, but if I do, he's the best qualified. Best doctor ever!

Dr. Brotea is a surgeon that brings the highest standards of skill and knowledge as well as genuine empathy to his patients. Dr. Brotea performed two unrelated surgeries on my spine; both times, from pre-op consult, through surgery and hospital stay to post-op follow-up, his level of care could not have been better. His integrity and patience in answering all questions to the patient's satisfaction gives the patient the confidence needed before committing to such delicate surgeries.

I was in pain for years with my neck. I am so happy that he was referred to me by Dr. Zelicof. He fixed my neck. No more pain.

Dr. Brotea is amazing! He is very thorough and kind. He explains your diagnosis in detail and makes it easily understandable. He is very down to earth and incredibly smart. Having worked in healthcare for many years, including with many surgeons, he is hands-down one of the best. He explained all of my options in detail and left the choice up to me while giving his professional opinion, which I trust implicitly. I was impressed with how promptly he returned my phone calls and answered all of my questions. His staff are welcoming, professional and efficient. Having been a hospital administrator, I tend to have a keen eye for cleanliness, staff and physician interactions. They exceeded my expectations. I can’t say enough good things about Dr.Brotea. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is having any back issues.

I just recently saw Dr. Brotea for an L5 S1 disc hermation. He is a down to earth doctor, who explains things in laments terms.. I am not fully committed to the idea of surgery just yet, but I am definitely leaning in the directon of Dr. Brotea; if I decide to go that route?? After reading the reviews of other patients, I am even more confident in his level of expertise.. I am hoping I will avoid this course, but feel that Dr. Brotea is the man for the job..

Dr. Brotea is a compassionate, caring doctor. He takes time to explain everything and answer your questions in an understandable manner. He performed an emergency spinal fusion on me and I have no regrets. I was at a point where I could not walk and he took the extreme pain away. He did an amazing job and was kind courteous as well as understanding. He even took time from his vacation to take my call. I cant say enough good things about Dr. Brotea!

Dr Brotea is awesome!! He makes you feel cared about and really listens to what is going on! His staff however- Rude and just plain nasty. Not worth going to if you want your day ruined by his staff. He really should wipe them clean or Atleast teach them some manners!!!

This review will contain abbreviated and detailed versions of my experience with Doctor Cristian Brotea. Abbreviated Review I suffered from a condition called Spondylolisthesis. Doctor Brotea identified it, and proposed a solution. He explained the procedure, the desired outcome, and the risks. I agreed to the procedure. Aside from the expected, and difficult, 4 week recovery time for the surgery, it was successful. He was available for questions for weeks after the surgery, and never left me wondering about the recovery process. I am very pleased with his skill and professional attitude. Detailed Review I was suffering from chronic back and sciatic pain for over a year. Bulging discs were reported to be the problem. Physical therapy had no effect. I was eventually referred to Doctor Brotea who told me that the real issue was Spondylolisthesis, which is a condition where a vertebra slides out of place. He suggested the following procedure: The degenerative disc in… between L4-L5 had to be removed, a spacer would be put in, the surrounding vertebrae would be stabilized with screws, and cadaver bone would be placed around it to encourage the bones to fuse together. Additionally, the ligaments in the area, which had grown abnormally thick, and were interfering with the nerves there, had to be trimmed back. He explained the procedure in detail. He explained the risks. He explained that he couldn't guarantee that the effected nerves weren't already damaged, and that the pain might not go away. He also explained that since the pain wasn't constant, he felt that it was worth attempting. The last thing he mentioned is that the recovery would take 3-4 weeks for the surgical wound to heal, and months for the fusion to be complete (if it ever did fuse). I opted for the surgery, and immediately felt relief from the original pain. I'm certain that everyone has a different experience with recovery, but it was very painful for me, and it required a few different prescriptions to manage. Still, Doctor Brotea continued to advise me regarding the healing process and pain management. Several weeks later: I am now mostly free of back pain, and sciatic pain. During recovery, I developed an IT band issue, which hurts my knee, and hindered my rehab (lots of walking), but I don't think that problem can be associated directly with the surgery. Overall, my husband and I are very pleased with Doctor Brotea's service, and we are very grateful to him.
