Dr. Cynthia Susan Carter, MD

I have PTSD from sexual abuse, but she gave me medication for schizophrenia, which I do not have. Aside from not helping, the medication had horrible side effects, so I emailed her that I was stopping the meds. She didn't respond. I went into withdrawal and had to go to Urgent Care. It was harrowing. When I saw her the next time and told her to bring up the email I'd sent her, which told her I was stopping my meds, she said to herself, "Why didn't I see that piece of it?" It was the second sentence in my email, which wasn't in pieces. Her office was filled with junk, books in stacks on the floor, papers everywhere. She had no idea about the medication she was prescribing me. I was unable to eat at one point, so she told me to drink Ensure. I told her I didn't want to drink Ensure; I wanted to know what this was happening to me. But she didn't know. Then I began lactating, even though I have never been pregnant in my life. That was one of the side effects of the drug she… insisted on "upping the dose" of every time it didn't work. Whenever I had an appointment with her, all I saw was the side of her face, because she was on her computer all the while I was talking. So I stopped seeing her.

She is a very professional and organized doctor, but she is scattered too thin, and is hard to locate. The facilities she chooses to affiliate herself with are unreasonable as far as being able to visit with her if you are not receiving all your care at their clinics or aren't a student of a certain institution of higher learning. I was once a patient, and cannot seem to become one again, which is disappointing.
